The yummy interview of Amanda Sthers

The author ans producer Amanda Sthers

Brainy for sure… But not just that. For once, is is not as film director, author or playwrite that we interviewed the divine Amanda Sthers, but as chef gourmet. This real food-addict has just launched Kiss and Fly, the first French Fortune Cookies… A killer ! An occasion for a very sweet interview...

How a successful writer decided to deal with Fortune Cookies ?

First thing: I have a very sweet tooth. Secondly: I have always been wild about Fortune Cookies. No because of their taste, because most of the time they are not very good. But Iadore the romantic, girly, poetic object.

And since I was constantly hassling everybody asking them where to find good ones … We started Kiss & Fly with Marc Beaucourt. Of course, these are the best Fortune Cookies you have ever tasted.

Production is home-made with a secret recipe concocted by a super chef with a texture that is a little like the gavotte dry crèpe. We imagined 4 flavours: coco, sesame, plain, pistacchi...

A Fortune Cookie must not be too oily nor too heavy. It’s a small anecdote after dessert, that is nice with coffee.

You can find them at :

Galeries Gourmandes, 2 Place de la Porte Maillot - La Maison Plisson, 93 boulevard Beaumarchais - Publicis Drugstore, 113 avenue des Champs-Elysées - Yoom : Galeries Lafayette Haussman.

Where to buy them online: wishibam.com.

All the info on Kiss & Fly Facebook Page.

“ Try again! Long roads lead to wonderful places.”

“Do as you wish. Be who you want to be

“Be someone who makes everyone feel like someone.”

“Obviously I wrote these… “ !

These small messages are a little like astrology, you can adapter them all to your life and it’s nicely written. It’s a base to dream when one is alone or to chat and exchange as a group.

These messages are small destiny to change the course of things, spark a love affair, do some good….

The coolest activity with kids?

My sons are grownup now, we adore burgers but not McDonald’s. They want French tyle “hamburgers” from Big Fernand.

Your anti burn-out  remedy?

Like all Mommies, there are moments when I am tired and don’t have time to take care of myself. So if I am really tired, I go for a care at the Sultane de Sabbah institute.

How to stay slim when you are a foodie?

If you have the miracle recipe, please share it with me...

For the joke: the other day, a great looking  model friend tells me very seriously: “ok I’m going to give you the secret”. I was super happy... and was persuaded she would give me a very good tip. My friend's very serious recipe? “Stop eating, there is nothing better”. Seriously, I really think that’s the secret, not to be obsessional—and deep down we know this very well et... After a week of excess: one week of water and grilled fish. It’s tough, but it really works.

Your three favorite restaurants ?

  • Les Voisins, a wild tapas bar to go have a glass of rosé on the terrace in Summer. Ideal for an Ibiza à Paris.
  • The “116 rue Auguste” the annex of restaurant Pages.
  • Sakuro, a super Japanese tea salon to wolf down seasonal cakes such as their red bean one. I have a passion for Japanese cakes.

A last minute recipe in a jiffy?

My super easy dessert for wowie effect!

I pan fry diced up apples or pineapple with a little bit of butter and sugar. I serve this in a pretty bowl with two mint leaves!

Your Summer reading ?

In Summer, I go off with a suitcase filled with books written by writer friends David Foenkinos, Émilie Frèche... I am very lucky because I can read before everyone else!

I am waiting with impatience for “L’inscousciance”, the next book by writer Karin Tuil. His latest novel is a must-read.

And what about your next book?

“Madame”… It is coming out in the Spring, but I’m not discussing it too much … I begin filming in a few days … An American film with Rossi de Palma and Toni Collette.
