A gourmet and design trip to Strasbourg

Trip Gourmand Et Design A Strasbourg 1

Deffo plan a little diet before hopping on the TGV for Strasbourg. Because the European capital, located 2h from Paris, is filled with great addresses.

Amongst the new food spots, old horse breeding farms renovated into a chic brasserie and designer hotel. A wild project backed by a clever duo: well-known architect Patrick Jouin (designer of the Plaza Athtnée, and Vélib’ bike parks…) and Alsatian chef Marc Haeberlin (3 stars on the Guide Michelin).

A great success for this incredible place, where one comes just as much for super contemporary and ultra refined decor as for the modern-style earthy cooking. Begin with a glass of Gewurzt and a bretzel or a flamed tart for happy hour. Don't bypass the foie gras (21€), and let yourself be tempted by a divine pork belly (19 €) or their famous choucroute (21 €) to be tasted with an organic Riesling (4,80 €). And for dessert? A baba (8 €) or deluxe churros (8 €).

Same goes for the hotel annex whose decorating style is inspired by the equestrian world. Streamlined chic qui that brings to mind the Hermès style (starting at 145 €/ night).

The must? A super warm Alsacian welcome and the lunch formula at 24 €.

Just opened: the pastry shop of MasterChef Elisabeth Biscarrat is already creating the buzz. This ex-nurse, reconverted in cakes after her training at Lenôtre, has just set up a sweet take away in the bucolic area of La Petite France.

An entirely glassed space, including the open lab that is like an invitation to tempting gourmet window-shopping. Because the pretty winner of the show in 2011 offers a colorful display of macaroons (chocolate, salty butter caramel, black forest…), but also sweet and salty pastry puffs.

The plus? Pastry courses organized on the premises.

Count 1,60 € for a macaroon
