Martyrs - Saint Georges
Totally bobo on the rue des Martyrs side, more down to earth and melting pot on the Grands Boulevards side and around Pigalle, surprisingly the 9th arrondissement has sidestepped gentrification and kept an end of the 19th century beginning of the 20th allure, made of small boutiques, antique shops who are still there, old timer bubbles that are holding their own with timeless charm.

Breakfast at the Hotel Amour
It's been three years now that the Amour is the ongoing hotspot of an arty-trendy enclave, while remaining very pleasant for the common mortal. Breakfasts are calm and good (the bread and array of croissants and buns come directly from the nearby baker, Arnaud Delmontel) and the patio, now under a glass skylight, is more than charming. In the evening? A festive and busy ambiance, cheeseburgers or macaronis and baby-foot in the lower level.
