Martyrs - Saint Georges
Totally bobo on the rue des Martyrs side, more down to earth and melting pot on the Grands Boulevards side and around Pigalle, surprisingly the 9th arrondissement has sidestepped gentrification and kept an end of the 19th century beginning of the 20th allure, made of small boutiques, antique shops who are still there, old timer bubbles that are holding their own with timeless charm.

Perfumes and candles at Detaille
The boutique of this 1905 perfumer is a marvel. Masculine scents with old-fashioned names (Miles, L'Eau de l'Escrimeur...) are delightful; those for women are a little heady, and scented candles (terrific Mimosa) are top quality.
