By Metro

It's the easiest, cheapest and fastest way of getting around the capital.
It runs every day, including holidays, from 5:30 am to 1:15am during the week and until 2:15am on weekends.
Fare : 1€60 for one metro ticket; 11€40 for a carnet of 10

By RER

It's a wide rail network that covers a great part of the Ile-de-France region. It comprises
5 lines designated by the letters: A, B, C, D, and E.
Within Paris, the RER runs almost like the metro except that it is quicker, because it stops less often. You can actually get across Paris in 15 minutes.

It runs every day, including holidays, between 6am and 12:30am.

Rates : within Paris, 1€60, beyond, the rates varies depending on the journey.

 

By Bus

It's one of the best ways to discover the capital: there are many lines and most of them run through the centre passing by historic monuments and areas.

Buses run Monday to Saturday from 7am to 8:30pm. Some lines run in the evenings between 8:30pm and 12:30 am, notably those departing from train stations.
More than half the lines work on Sundays and on holidays.

Rate : 1€60 for the ticket as the metro, valid for one trip only.

The Noctilien

You have just missed the last metro and it's too early to wait for the 6 am ? Night travelers, the Noctilien is for you with 42 bus lines through the entire Ile-de-France.
From 12:30 am to 5:30 am

The Balabus

The Balabus is a special line that enables you to discover from east to west, from the gare du Nord to the Grande Arche, most of the main sites of the city of lights : la Bastille, le Marais, l'Ile Saint-Louis, Notre-Dame, le Louvre, Orsay, les Invalides, les Champs-Elysées...
This bus runs from April to September, only on Sundays and on holidays, from 1:30 pm to 8:30 pm from the gare de Lyon train station and from 1:30 pm to 8pm from the Grande Arche of la Défense.

Depending on the distance of the journey, fares cost from 1 to 3 bus/metro tickets.

By bike

With 200 km of bike paths and 70 km of bus lanes, bike riders are gaining ground in Paris.
On Sundays and holidays, part of the embankments and canals are reserved for pedestrians, bicycles and roller-bladers.

Velib' is a self-serve rental service very simple to use that puts at your disposal several thousand bicycles, available 24 /24 and 7/7. With pit stops all over Paris.
The 30 first minutes of each trip are free, afterward the service cost will be debited from your Velib' account or your bank account.

PARIS BY BIKE IS GREAT

For 3 hour unusual and original bicycle rides at the heart of Paris with guides or courriers.
Hours : April 1st to 31 October : Saturday and Sunday at 10am
from November 1st to March 31 : Monday- Friday- Saturday - Sunday at 10am
the night shift begins on Saturday at 8:30 pm from May to September.
Closed on Tuesdays.

By taxi

Parisian taxis don't have a good reputation. They complain a lot and often the waiting time at the taxi stand is tedious, especially on Friday nights and Saturdays. It's best to call one up.

To avoid traffic jams. Especially on the way back :
