Do it this weekend

12 March 2010

No subtitles with Michele Placido and Pietro Germi

Cinema - Italian

Michele Placido had a full house with his very romantic Romanzo Criminale. He puts all the chances on his side by directing this time Italian Dream (released since 10 March) an autobiographical film whose plot should please fans of his last venue: a handsome young man, cop in the Puglia region in 1968, dreals of cinema and must infiltrate the local student youth. At the universities, he makes encounters that will change his life.

Less « easy» and probably much funnier but more nitty gritty, the work of Pietro Germi is concentrated in a series of DVD edited by Carlotta. Co-star with Risi and Monicelli, he is the King of Italian comedy (at a time when this really meant something), but remains strangely unknown in France : one has to see Signore & Signori, a cynical comedy, funny of course but with an aftertaste, that seriously belittles the middle class of Northern Italy, Cannes Cannes Golden Palm in 66.

Signore & Signori, Divorce Italian Style, Murder Italian style, Il Ferroviere (in a not very funny neo-realistic vein...)
