An anthology of new projects and original exhibitions: our short list of events not to be missed.

Martin Parr's Ireland

The pitch: the offbeat look of British photographer Martin Parr on an Ireland in full mutation between 1979 and 1989 under the influence of the great period of growth known as the “ Celtic Tiger ”. Between documentary and social reportage , focus on the way of life of the Irish middle class, their daily life and their passions: an obsession which gives the artist his title of “ chronicler of modern life ”.

Where ? Martin Parr's Ireland at the Irish Cultural Center from November 11 to January 8, 5 rue des Irlandais, Paris 5th, open Monday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Andy Warhol at the Chenel Gallery

The pitch: several series of polaroids and unique prints of moments of life dating from the 70s and the mid -80s signed by the king of pop art . The first series entitled Interiors captures still lifes , vestiges of a dinner at the table or a slightly drunken evening. The second series illustrates the liberation of the gay movement , at the time when Andy Warhol joined the LGBTQ+ community and began to achieve tighter framing of male and female nudes . Intimate, singular and unique moments that dialogue with the sculptures of Galerie Chenel , thus presenting an unexpected link between different eras and various media.

Where ? Moments from October 6 to November 19 at Galerie Chenel , 3 Quai Voltaire, Paris 7th, open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Elsa & Johanna at the House of Auguste Comte

The pitch: the inseparable duo Elsa and Johanna are inspired by the book What a woman is worth: treatise on the moral and practical education of young girls, published in 1893 with the support of the Ministry of Public Instruction to take a look singular on this vision of the woman of another time. Black and white film shots retrace 24 hours in the life of a woman where daydreaming takes precedence over the archaic and patriarchal image imposed by the society of the time. A constellation of 24 different women photographed in the privacy of their homes, a veritable pictorial mythology where it is up to the viewer to guess the fate of each of the protagonists present in the photos, like an echo of the debate on parity which continues to fuel our media.

Where ? What a woman is worth: the twelve hours of the day and night at the Maison d'Auguste Comte , 10 rue Monsieur-Le-Prince, Paris 6th, open Tuesday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Antoine Henault at the Eugène Delacroix Museum

The pitch: Insolations is Antoine Henault 's first personal exhibition , revealed by the Prix Picto de la Mode 2022 awarded to young photographers under 35. The Eugène Delacroix museum gives carte blanche to the artist to occupy the space and arrange his works according to the rhythm of the seasons . A very solar theme where we find all the nostalgia for light , the torpor of an afternoon in the shade during a moment of rest, all embellished with flowers and fruits. An awakening of the senses to “ feel the taste, the texture and the smells ”, initiated above all by the happiness of contemplation .

Where ? Sunstroke from November 3 to December 31 at the Eugène Delacroix Museum , 6 rue de Furstenberg, Paris 6th, open Wednesday to Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Pascal Maitre at the Academy of Fine Arts

The pitch: a magnificent ode to the thousand-year-old Fulani people of the Sahel , today weakened by global warming and the radicalization of a religion that threatens the balance of the surrounding communities. The exhibition is organized around the theme of traditional festivals , daily life , conflicts and their consequences , thus bringing a current reading and a sensitive testimony to a community victim of its geopolitical situation .

Where ? Peuls du Sahel at the Academy of Fine Arts Pavillon Comtesse de Caen, 27 Quai de Conti, Paris 6th, from October 20 to December 4, 2022, open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

See Paris again, Quai de Solférino

The pitch: a requiem to the City of Light through a whole century of photography. For the occasion, the collector and publisher Jean-Marie Donat has brought together a hundred shots mainly taken by anonymous amateurs , linked together by this unconditional love that everyone has for our capital. Here, the artist follows the extension of his way of working, an artistic approach based on a repetitive pattern that invites the walker to observe Paris from near and far.

Where: Promenade des Berges de la Seine André Gorz, Paris 7th
