A trendy grocery shop comprising 500 references of very good made in Japan products doubled by a real Japanese cantina in the pure tradition of the country of the Rising Sun, Workshop Issé, is a little like the Colette of Japanese food.
There you will find the best soya sauces (count 20 €), exceptional vinegars, sesame oil but also sweet and salty biscuits along with traditional tableware. The real added value of the place? You can taste the sauces because before deciding, you must « live a sensorial experience» says the owner!
Between the shelves, narrow tables where one comes at lunchtime to taste the daily menu (15 €). The principle? Sashimi of seabass, salmon, curry… While you never know ahead of time what you are going to eat, one thing is for sure, here they only prepare the best.
The plus: the off-shoot across the street with a nice selection of sakés and another cantina open noon and in the evening (Workshop Issé Bis, 10 rue Saint- Augustin).
Open Monday to Saturday. Lunch only.
