Alix O’Byrne, the girl who cuts lines at the restaurant

Alix O'Byrne, creator of sneat

A last minute reservation at Dersou, Salt, at Lazare, Frenchie, Roca or La Régalade? Before, this was mission impossible. With sneat, Alix has invented the most sexy food app in Paris that can be used as a line cutter and for incredible same day reservations in the hottest restaurants of Paris … “The idea for sneat happened when my entourage  ran into difficulties (one might even say  « the incapacity ») to book good restaurants ahead of time.

Because they travel a lot, don’t have enough visibility in their agenda, or are just too plain lazy to get organized. In parallel to this, the increasing problem of last minute cancellations in restaurants” explains Alix. A good occasion to ask which are you favourite restaurants.

How many restaurants do you test each week ?

In general I try to test 5 or 6. It depends on openings and what’s going on in the news…

How do you stay slim ?

Quite difficult if you spend your time in restaurants. But when I’m not out I buy good products and take the time to cook them. It’s a good way to satisfy hunger pants! Otherwise, there is no real secret, a bit of sports and not too much, without becoming obsessional.

Your favourite restaurant in the world ?

I recently discovered the cuisine of Alain Passard, and was quite simply blown away. It was really on target. You feel the chef’s generosity behind each plate.

A good table to suggest with 20€  in your pocket ?

Frenchie To Go for lunch, they serve a wild pulled pork sandwich or Daroco pour for a super pizza. They have taken over the former boutique of Jean Paul Gaultier in the  Galerie Vivienne. The place is amazing parfait for a dinner with buddies.

The most romantic place in Paris

Le Parvis du Grand Palais. It’s the place I prefer in Paris.

Your last heart throb ?

Le Garde Manger on rue Meissonier in the 17th. It’s the « annex » of restaurant Papillon, at the same time grocery store, cellar, caterer, pocket cantina. It’s hybrid, the product selection is excellent, I adore it !

All the info on Papillon and the Garde manger here.

The last chef whose cuisine really surprised you ?

I recently went to eat at David Toutain’s and adored his cuisine. I had discovered him during a Fooding event with Alain Passard, my heart throb took place there !

A clever system when buddies show up last minute at home ?

I have a small plancha at home (but a frying pan is enough!). In general, I buy a few lamb chops at the butcher shop that I marinate in olive oil and thyme, place all that to grill on the plancha, to be served with a crisp green salad and cheese by Libert. It’s simple, takes 3 minutes and is quite impressive!

Your grocery ilst ?

At Terroir d’Avenirs, rue du Nil. They have it all, in a very very good version: fish, meats, vegetable produce and now bakery. And to go home with a good bottle, stop by the et Frenchie cellar. They have a very nice selection.

All the information on Terroir D’Avenir here.

Do you prefer Sunday lunch or brunch ?

Without any hesitation, a late lunch at Kunitoraya, on rue Villedo. It’s the place I prefer for a Sunday lunch.

All the info on Kunitoraya.

The dish you are totally hooked on ?

I admit having a real weakness for Japanese cuisine. A tartare of horse mackerel with ponzu sauce and I go wild.

The most foodporn Instagram account that makes you salivate?

I really like Adrien’s Food @adrienfoodinparis in Paris. The photos are pretty and the address selection very good.

A food concept  you adore?

It’s not new, but I am a faithful follower of « très très bon » on Paris Première… It gives ideas for trends and restaurants.
