Asian snacking at the semi nomadic Banh

Banh Mi 1

In the family of food trucks, we go for the Asian chic. Isabelle and Muriel have put together their respective common passions:  Vietnam for one and street food for the other.

The result ? A truck with a very Asian look, customized with typical small lanterns that squats in front of the MK2 Bibliothèque at lunch time.

On the slate, the truck features a single guest star: the banh mi. For those who don’t already know, this is  a sandwich with meat, raw marinated veggies, vegetables and herbs, all this on a very Frenchy baguette imported in Asia during the colonial days.

Here, the Vietnamese snack comes in three versions that change regularly, for added freshness and to keep regulars from getting bored. We really like the lemongrass coconut chicken and the pork with caramel, sprinkled with a dash of coriander and seasoned with a delicious home mayonnaise. Special kudos for the savory crispy baguette.

We like : veggies cooked in the wok, proof that street food can also be healthy.

Tops : sipping a bubble tea, the Taiwanese it-drink made with aromatic tea and crunchy pearls filled with mango or lychee that you inhale with a large straw.
