Degas in Basel

No the Swiss are not just all about watches, cheese fondues and chocolate... Our Helvetian neighbors are also very keen about art. Proof with the major exhibitions presented at the Beyeler Foundation, near Basel, a short one-hour plane ride from Paris.

The Winter holidays are ideal time for an escapade across the Rhine to urgently go discover this exhibition dedicated to the late works of one of the masters of impressionism, Edgard Degas.

One dreams in front of his numerous paintings featuring graceful dancers, feminine nudes and oniric landscapes in pastel hues. Sculptures, engravings, photos, he also experimented with other forms of expression. More than 150 masterpieces from all over the world were gathered for this special occasion.

Tops : a perfect occasion to have lunch in a typical Basel restaurant, entirely renovated like a lounge, nestled in a building of the old town dating back to the 14th century.
