French Toast

We came across this mythical recipe for French toast with milk jam. To be tested immediately !

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Vanilla custard:

-        20 cl liquid cream

-        ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract

-        3 egg yolks

-        25g of sugar

Decoration: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries

Preparation of the custard:

Heat the liquid cream with the vanilla extract in a pan.

In another pan, mix the egg yolks and the sugar until you obtain a homogenous consistence.

When the cream begins to boil, slowly pour in the other pan the sugar and egg yolk mix, stirring with a wooden spoon. Place on low flame.

When the cream has thickened and covers the back of the spoon, remove from the flame and filter.

Preparation of the French toast:

Pour the milk, the vanilla extract, the milk jam and the salt in a pan, heat slowly on a low flame. Stir until the milk jam has melted, then remove from flame.

Beat the eggs.

Dip the bread slices in a mix of milk jam, then in the eggs, on both sides.

Cook in a buttered pan on a low flame during 3 minutes on each side.

Serve with the custard and the fresh fruit.

-        30cl of whole milk

-        ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract

-        4 table spoons of Bonne Maman milk jam

-        2 pinches of salt

-        2 eggs

-        4 slices of brioché or toasting bread

-        Butter for the cooking
