A fun tag-sale and a good bistrot in the Batignolles

Comme Chez Maman

How about taking advantage of the long Easter weekend to stroll around a quaint buzzing area? Head for the Batignolles where the annual tag sale will be in full swing: stands of postcards, clothing, lingerie, vintage furniture.

For great eats, come sit down at Comme chez Maman, a chic bistrot at light prices. Freestone walls, wooden tables, black banquettes, here the bistrot-loft decor is warm and welcoming. Laurent Cury who worked at Market will give you good tips on the wine list and pamper you from start to finish, as for chef-owner Wim Van Gorp, ex-Alain Ducasse and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, he produces traditional dishes with generosity and know-how.

As starters, seasonal asparagus or egg mayo, special kudos for the house gnocchi, parmesan and cured ham, especially when  served with truffle in season. Then move on to the blanquette de veau, the amazing prime ribs of beef or the sassy casserole from the sea.

For dessert, a wide array of choices: tarte tatin, chocolate mousse, and the not to be missed Gauffre Sublime, a waffle as light as air. Barely finished, you already feel like coming back for more.
