VIP selfies: the buzzing show

Des Selfie De Vip L Expo Qui Buzze

Is the selfie becoming an artistic movement in its own right? It certainly seems so when you go to this surprising show presented at the Galerie Derouillon in the Marais.

At the origin, it was an arty project  byJonas Unger. The German photographer lent his camera to celebrities so they take pictures of themselves. The result? A wink to the facetious Adèle Exarchopoulos, the amused look of Jean Paul Gaultier, the enigmatic gaze of Victoria’s Secret ex-angel Karolina Kurkova or the poorly framed photo of Gérard Depardieu.

Unabated egocentrism according to some… Rather « a moment of truth» revealing a personality according to the artist, who thus tries to reveal the real face of these  personalities often hidden by makeup and false pretenses. No matter what, the autoportrait is an exercise of style in its own right.

Autoportraits Jonas Unger, from 24 April to 21 May 2014, Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm to 7pm and by appointment.
