A gourmet and arty outing at BAL

Sortie Gourmande Et Arty Au Bal

Hidden behind Place de Clichy, far from the bustle and big flashy flagships, BAL is like an arty cool Eden.

A hybrid place that combines a trendy café, a top notch bookshop and especially an exhibition space dedicated to alternative projects.

To see at the moment and until Sunday only, the totally zany photos of Canadian Kourtney Roy. The artist with  varied influences (she claims to draw her inspiration from the morbid works of Joël-Peter Witkin as well as the glossy glam photographs of Guy Bourdin) presenting off-beat auto-portraits but always very slick. Sometimes amusing, sometimes unsettling… Her elongated silhouette is showcased in a number of grotesque situations.

While you are there, sit down and have a bite at the BAL Café. A design cantina where the wonderful bistronomique eats of the week are replaced by an Anglo-Saxon brunch  on the week-end. A la carte: scones, müesli, welsh rarebit, banana bread, cheesecake…

Good news: BAL is open Thursday 8 May as well as the café for lunch and dinner.

Carte blanche exhibition PMU 2013 Ils pensent déjà que je suis folle, Kourtney Roy, until 11 May 2014, Wednesday to Friday from noon to 8pm, Saturday from11am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am to 7pm, late night on Thursday until 10pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Brunch à la carte starting at 4,5 €, lunch starting at 15 €, dinner starting at 32 €
