The Azzaro exhibition at the Arts Déco

Expo Azzaro

Brigitte Bardot asked him for  “a dress that would boost her morale and her breasts”. Azzaro created it for her. This anecdote totally conveys the genius of this man. A leading couturier at the service of women, not fashion.

The  MAD ( nickname for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs) inaugurates its first exhibition dedicated to the Azzaro fashion house, to be seen before the 6th of May. And you will adore it.

First because the exhibition is short, but ideally conceived. Secondly because it’s free. Finally because it’s furiously glam...

And with cause. Azzaro became famous during the most glitzy years : the 70’s. The Régine years. The Castel years. A time when excess was at its apex and the iconoclast creator took great pleasure in making women free, beautiful. As opposed to Saint Laurent, he did not need to borrow the codes of the masculine wardrobe to magnify them.

His signature: jewellery dresses and hallucinating drapés that were worn by Jane Birkin, Sophia Lauren, Romy Schneider, or Tina Turner all immortalized by the star photographers stars of the time such as Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon…

And after? Go have a drink or lunch at Loulou, the most trendy restaurant in Paris

Azzaro, 50 ans d'éclats, from the 25th of April to the 6th of May 2018.
