The not to be missed fashion exhibition: Dries Van Noten at the Decorative Arts

L Expo Fashion A Ne Louper Sous Aucun Pretexte Dries Van Noten A

The white page syndrome? Not his problem. Dries Van Noten, is amongst the most talented designers of his generation. But how does this couture genius feed his relentless imagination? The answer lies in this exhibition presented at the Arts Déco and in which the Belgian couturier participated himself.

A thematic and introspective approach that retraces sources of inspiration as varied as a canvas by Francis Bacon, a dress by Cristobal Balenciaga, a Dior suit, and more surprisingly, the film, A Clockwork Orange by Stanley Kubrick ! All these elements, excerpted from films and museum archive pieces are an echo to the silhouettes designed by the one who has shaken up fashion codes since the 80s.

The must: Dries Van Noten took advantage of this collaboration to draw from the archives of the Arts Déco. The result? His men and women’s shows for Spring/Summer 2014, are a little wink to t 19th century textiles motifs.
