Rachel’s cake, the highly awaited US cantina in the Marais

Rachel S Cake La Cantine Us Tres Attendue Dans Le Marais Princip

Thougu totally unaware, many Parisians have already tasted the creations of Rachel. Because since several years, this native American supplies an impressive number of restaurants in the capital with US pastries, burger buns and bagels (Costes, Le Camion qui fume, B&M Burger, The Broken Arm…).

It was time for the « cheesecake queen » to open her own cantina, a neo-diner set up in the trendy Marais. A cozy, two-level space, designed by Dorothée Meilichzon (Beef Club, Fish Club, les Café Pinson) in a graphic and retro style.

From breakfast until late at night, US specialties are in the spotlight but not necessarily what one expects…

No burgers but authentic Yankee dishes such as a deli style beef tongue, organic kale salad (pear, beets, wild rice, cheese…), chicken sandwich smoked with Jack Daniels wood crates (12,50 €) or the very popular po-boy,  a sandwich with breaded shrimp (17,50 €).

On the sweet side, her mythical cheesecakes (plain, Oreo, raspberry…) are in the spotlight along with granola, pancakes and other wild cakes (carrot cake, lemon meringue pie, brownie…). And as drinks, freshly pressed fruit, natural wines from the vineyards of Uncle Sam and Coutume coffee depending on the time of the day.

We like: the more intimate corner on the upper level with sofas and juke box.

The must: from the bread to the sauces, everything is home-made with organic ingredients and products imported directly from American farms.

Open daily from 8:30am to 1pm
