The most « famous » pretty face of the 50s-60s is on show right now at the Galerie Azzedine Alaïa. The amazing photographs of redhead Bettina, the original fashion icon, were shot by leading photographers of the time (Erwin Blumenfeld, Irving Penn, Robert Doisneau, Willy Rizzo…).
While her career as a model began by happenstance at the end of the 40s, Bettina was quickly noticed by ultra influential couturiers of that era amongst which Christian Dior, Jacques Fath and Hubert de Givenchy, whose muse and right arm she was to become. From Elle to Vogue, Bettina was displayed on the cover of all the magazines until 1955, when she decided to forego everything for true love.
We like: a fascinating flashback of the ultra glamour post-war fashion, through a selection of black and white photos featuring the one who opened the royal way to Claudia, Kate, Gisele and all the others.
