The cheese bar that is making foodies go wild

Monbleu Fromagerie

How about a session of cheese on a slate and a nice wine in a new cool place that makes happy hour really swing? Opened by an ex mountain-dwelling  engineer (natch) in love with cheese, Monbleu is the new stylish cheese bar on the Grands Boulevards. We’re warning you it’s hot stuff.

The context is launched right from the start with its cheese shop where aficionados can order a composed basket— much more original than a bouquet of flowers to bring to the hostess of your next dinner (€24 ).

Then comes their handsome  XXL dining room with a slick decor featuring , velvet armchairs, the original freestone walls, copper pipes and on the upper level, a made-to-measure ping-pong table or a big comfy sofa. Last option: the small terrace, to have lunch in the sun.

plat et plateau de fromages

But let’s get serious: the tasting of upscale cheese amongst more than 80 references (Comté, mozzarella, Beaufort, Saint-Nectaire, Brie de Meaux, Tomme des Aravis, Petit Chèvre fumé à la Genièvre, Bleu de Bonneval…) selected by MOF Pierre Gay, a real pro.

For lunch time or a night time, go for the colourful gourmet plates: burratina, braised beets, tagliatelli of carrot, nuts roasted with rosemary (€14 ) or the Camem’buns (camembert, crusty herbs, buns, roasted vegetables, salad, €14 ). And for foodies with a sweet tooth, the chocolate cake and its slivers of old gouda is a discovery (€7 ). To be enjoyed happily with a Crozes Hermitage (€6,50 ) or a chilled Côtes de Provence (€4,50 ), by the glass.

We like: the availability of the staff, always ready to give you advice so you can pair cheese and wine… and to serve you on the sly a soft scoop of milky ice cream. Shhh, it’s a secret.

Open every day. Brunch on Sunday from 11h:30am to 4pm
