Digging into the best paella in Paris

paella el tast

Hola chica! Saturday is the day for XXL paella at El Tast. And not your run of the mill… The trendy tapas bar of the 18th has nabbed the title of « best paella of France 2016 », before being listed in the i international paella contest organized in Spain. Serious stuff.

Well, it just happens that Vicent, Jordi and Victor, all three originally from Valencia, take the recipe of their native country very seriously. Translation: seafood, peas and chorizo are quite simply banished. What’s left is chicken, rabbit, snow peas, lima beans and bomba rice (the very best), only ingredients allowed in the authentic valenciana paella. All this simmers in an XXL pot displayed on the counter every Saturday, lunch and dinner, (15€ per portion). A killer.

Good news, the El Tast team is doing it again with Pessic in the Marais, where paella is also a on Saturday special. Now you have two addresses pour for a widl paella, vamos !

Pessic, 102 Rue du Temple, 75003. 09 54 33 10 11.

El Tast, 70 Rue Duhesme 75018 Paris 09 50 18 02 26.

Go see the very amusing comedy of Charlotte Gabris at the theater

merci pour le bruit theatre

It’s “the” play that is going to reconcile you with life, and New Age theater. Normal: this divine comedy is signed and played by Charlotte Gabris, (La bande de Ruquier, Baby-sitting), front row of all the talented actresses-humorists of her generation.

Rendezvous in the super flat of Lisa, a lovely 30-year-old who is about to celebrate her brithday… A cool party is in the works. But appearances and be deceiving: Lola’s fiancé has just mentioned the suspicious words: “we need to talk” and her girlfriends seem about to drop her. Amidst a very “Bridget Jones” anxiety crisis, her wonderfully off-the-wall neighbour, Vincent, shows up at the party to complain about…the noise.

We like: a very amusing and refined spectacle staged by Sarah Lelouche on the couple, the difficulties of women to emancipate, solitude and the existential crisis that 30-year-olds go through today. A must see!

And afterwards ? And since the show ends up early (8:40pm) we can go test the best pasta carbonara of Paris around the corner at Denny Imbroisi.

Starting at €19. Merci pour le Bruit : Tuesday to Saturday at 7Pm, Théâtre de la Gaîté Montparnasse. All the information on www.gaite.fr

Go check out the ultra glam’ exhibition on Parisian nights

exposition nuits parisiennes

We also have good news for night owls, party girls and nostalgics of the palace. Here is the (free) exhibition with absolute coolness dedicated to Parisian nights at the Hôtel de Ville. In this case Mano and Beigbeder don’t have the monopoly of night…

Once upon a time there were Paris by night… from the Palais Royal to Palace. Welcoem to the Whisky à gogo, chez Castel or the Bains Douches… Imagined like a real promenade in the streets of Paris and its festive fever, these amazing photos sublimes will take you backstage of fashion events or in the cellars of Saint Germain des Prés where Saint Laurent had his habits.

A real lesson of history in the brasseries of the Palace years, in the private changing rooms of a cabaret of on the Chez Régine dance floor … without forgetting those who work at night and run into the police et and prostitutes. That’s Paris !

Les Nuits Parisiennes. Free exhibition at the Hotel de Ville until the 27th of January 2018. Open every day except Sunday from 10am to 6:30pm. 4 rue Lobeau 75004 Paris.
