Rue Des Rosiers

In the heart of the Marais, rue des Rosiers is a must for tourists and Parisians. Emblematic of the Jewish community, it has nevertheless been home to trendy shops and restaurants for several years. Between institutions and more hidden corners, discover the rue des Rosiers, as if you were there!

To do shopping…

heroines

If its purple storefront with yellow writing is beginning to invade the capital, it is nevertheless here, at 6 rue des Rosiers, that it all began, just ten years ago. Behind Héroïnes, the store that wants to “ offer each woman the most beautiful version of herself ”, hides Aurélie Cohen. Tired of the diktat of thinness imposed on women, this young entrepreneur has created clothes with cuts reminiscent of those of the 50s and 60s, in bright colors. The originality of the brand? Each model, ranging from 34 to 44, exists in very few copies. The idea is that each woman wears a unique creation, developed by European craftsmen, in an eco-responsible approach. Ready to be the heroine of your life even in your dressing room? We run there!

From Future

The regulars will always stop there for a moment, to remember. At the corner of rue des Rosiers and rue Fernand Duval, stood, for years, the place to be in the Marais: Goldenberg. A Jewish restaurant in Eastern Europe which, on August 9, 1982, suffered a dramatic attack. If only a commemorative plaque remains today, the place now houses a shop, whose name resonates like a note of hope: From Future. Specializing in cashmere, the shop offers a new collection perfect for summer, with floral dresses (from €149 to €230) and swimsuits (€79), in pop colours. Something to chill all summer long!

To eat on the go...

The Falafel Ace

Life would be less beautiful without the Ace of Fallafel. ” It's a bit like the adage of the rue des Rosiers. Admittedly, you often have to face an hour-long queue and cars brushing past you in this rue des Rosiers, which is still non-pedestrian, but the game is worth the effort. Because here, in addition to the sacrosanct falafel, we eat the best lamb shawarma pita sandwich in Paris. All this at reasonable prices (€8.50 for a sandwich or €13 for a plate of falafel). Most ? You can even come across Lenny Kravitz or Vanessa Paradis (not together!), who have their habits there.

L'As du Fallafel, 34 rue des Rosiers, Paris 4th. Continuous service from noon to 11:30 p.m., closed Friday evening and Saturday.

For a snack…

Western version: Yann Couvreur Pâtisserie

In the industry, Yann Couvreur is a bit like the Brad Pitt of pastry, his creations are so recognizable. Her totem animal, the fox, is also present in many of her cakes and in her yule log, for the holidays. Going to Yann Couvreur for a snack is the promise of a gourmet and suspended moment. You can taste its signature dessert La Merveille, a light milk chocolate mousse, hazelnut praline with fleur de sel, crunchy meringue (and fox drawings!), or rather succumb to its subtle raspberry-tarragon tart. At Yann Couvreur? A moment of happiness!

Yann Couvreur Pâtisserie, 23 bis rue des Rosiers, Paris 4th, from €4.50 to €9 per individual pastry, more info on yanncouvreur.com

Version Yiddish : Korcaz

It is the institution of the rue des Rosiers. The bakery has existed since… 1946! A brand that has been passed down from father to son for five generations, and which today exports its creations to the four corners of the world. Today, in the restaurant-tea room, people go there for savory dishes, but above all, for their Ashkenazi pastries (from Eastern Europe). Our favorite ? Plain cheesecake, served in (very!) generous portions. In recent years, Korcaz has also opened up to Sephardic cuisine (from North Africa) and offers specialties such as gazelle horn or boulou (almond cake). We come out with 3 extra kg, but resolutely happy!

Korcaz, 29 rue des Rosiers, Paris 4th, from €5 to €7 for a pastry, more info on korcarz.fr

To stroll...

The Garden of Roses - Joseph Migneret

It is an unknown address, but worth the detour. In the middle of the emulation of the rue des Rosiers, nestles a discreet oasis, where it is good to recharge your batteries. The Jardin des Rosiers - Joseph Migneret reopened on June 24, after embellishment work. A green space of 2135 m2, which is not visible from the street, and which was born from the meeting of several private gardens.
