What are the new rooftops that will make Parisians vibrate this year? A first look at the festivities with 3 new highly perched addresses.
Mama Shelter Paris West
Maybe you did not know it, but the super cool Mama Shelter has opened a new hotel in Paris, this time near the Porte de Versailles. These ambassadors of the hipster lifestyle could not imagine a new establishment without a rooftop worthy of its name. Rendezvous on the 8th floor… for a summer vibes spirit of good sound.
Here, the art of happy hour is cultivated in total simplicity: cocktails (€10) and rosé wine (€6), wood oven pizzas (starting at €10) and dishes to share like stracciatella with truffle and pita bread (€12). To be noted for regulars: ask for the small table, hidden and raised with a view on the Eiffel Tower like a flying carpet over Paris.
Every day from 7pm to midnight. Reservations required at 01 70 94 14 14
Mama Shelter Paris West, 20 Avenue de la Porte de la Plaine, Paris 15th
General excitation amongst the troops. In the wake of Covid, starting the th 22nd of June, the big party spirit has taken on a more chill out and foodie version on the roof-terrace of the Wanderlust, in a new ultra-vegetal setting that makes one feel on holiday.
Certainly, there will always be sound, but the DJs have moved over to leave room for star chef Alexia Duchêne (recently candidate on Top Chef) to create the largest open sky street food market in Parisalong the Seine waterfront, between beach restaurant and food-court.
À la carte: fifteen foodporn dishes, roasted cauliflower and yaourt sauce with curry and chive oil, toasted Cubano sandwich, braised eggplants, pizza with fresh cream. Without forgetting a bar concocting super cocktails, but also sparkling and natural wines sourced from small producers. In short, everything we like. To be noted also: festive brunches on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11am (dinner formula at €24; brunch formula at €28).
Wanderlust 32 Quai d'Austerlitz, Paris 13th
Here we go again. After a first ultra successful season, Julien Sebbag– the new face of Israeli cuisine and spiritual son of Yotam Ottolenghi – the vegetarian chef has reopened tables on the Galeries Lafayette roof with the same obsession: “I want diners to fantasize when they eat an eggplant as well as burger.”
And the chef hits the bull’s eye with a very sexy cuisine, a stylish cocktails bar and a scenography inspired by a joyful bordello whose decoration was picked up at Emmaüs… and where you can show up with a family, it’s the spirit.
On big tables of buddies, Mediterranean feasts take place: his famous Stain Boy– shredded broccoli, tahina sauce + yogurt (€12), a potato salad, hard boiled eggs, capers, home-made aïoli & paprika (€11), an oven-baked half-aubergine (€14) or the focaccia of courgettes and burrata(€15). Without forgetting the mythical French toast with pistachio for dessert (€11).
