Saint-Trop' anti-bling: instructions for use in 15 addresses

Saint Tropez

Anti-bling, more bohemian, more authentic... The Saint-Tropez of 2021 extends the summer in a feel good spirit, far from the bombastic addresses cherished by multimillionaires who, in any case since the Covid, have preferred to buy surrounding villas to avoid crowds - according to local theories.

A proven fact, September is the ideal month to enjoy this charming fishing village without the waves of holidaymakers, but always under the sun exactly. And that's good: the chill residences that sold out this summer remain open for the most part until October. The opportunity to (re)discover Saint-Trop' in its new light with our favorite addresses. Do you, do you?

Hotel de Paris: a swimming pool with rooftop

If you arrive in Saint-Tropez by boat, it is impossible to find a hotel closer to the pier, just opposite Chanel. Taken over by the former director of the Bristol, the Hôtel de Paris is distinguished by its heart of charm: the only rooftop in the village, overlooking the sea and on which there is an extraordinary swimming pool .

We enjoy the sunset around an aperitivo with socca, oysters from the region, black truffle pizza, homemade foie gras toast or charcuterie platter with bread rubbed with garlic, to wash down with a glass of rosé Minuty or a sublime well-chilled cocktail. A perfect suspended moment before going to dinner and finding your room with refined decor and a bathroom filled with Clarins products , which signs the hotel spa...

Note: chef Damien Cruchet 's locavore picnic baskets to take to the beach (from €160 to €220 for two people).

Échappée Gourmande package with breakfast, dinner with food and wine pairings, upgrade and arrival and departure times at your convenience from €411 per night for two people (minimum stay of two nights)

Hôtel de Paris Saint-Tropez and Restaurant Les Toits , 1 crossing of the Gendarmerie, 83990 Saint-Tropez, 04 83 09 60 00

A festive dinner at Le TIGrr

It's the institution of Thai food that has been delighting chic skiers in Megève and Gordes for years. In residence in the Ermitage hotel on the hills of the village (just above the Place des Lices), Le TIGrr brings together large tables of friends in a festive atmosphere with an orchestra that performs your favorite song on demand. The last baby of Jérôme Foucaud (ex-Byblos) dominates the village under its umbrella pines with its terraces and two pétanque courts.

À la carte, Thai specialties in sexy baby mode: sushi (€18), King Crab spring rolls (€25), sautéed noodles with vegetables, singing TIGrr (€36), gilthead sea bream in a banana leaf and signature maki tempura shrimp or chive cheese. Dedication to Insta-friendly turquoise or purple cocktails, before continuing the evening at the bar in a more playful atmosphere and superb decor by Astrid Maillet-Contoz.

The TIGrr , 14 avenue Paul Signac, 83990 Saint-Tropez, 04 94 81 08 10

The alternative: La Sauvageonne , an amazing evening address to party in a Robinson Crusoe-style jungle near Ramatuelle ( route de Bonne Terrasse, 83350 Ramatuelle ).

The revival of the mythical Hotel La Ponche

It is undoubtedly the cutest and most authentic hotel in Saint-Tropez, popular with Simone de Beauvoir , Romy Schneider , Brigitte Bardot , Françoise Sagan and the whole team in a family home spirit. Fabrizio Casiraghi signs the new Provençal and elegant decor of La Ponche with tommettes, attics and discreetly luxurious fabrics. Note: book a class with the Tigre Yoga Club to greet the sun from the pontoon of La Ponche beach (a little wonder in the middle of the city), barefoot almost in the water.

The hotel also offers a restaurant with the young chef prodigy Thomas Danigo at the helm. We have very fresh lunch facing the sea on its incredible terrace: pea gazpacho (€18), sea bream ceviche, grilled catch of the day (€48) and roasted apricots. Necessary.

Superior double room from 572 €

La Ponche , 5 rue des Remparts, 83990 Saint Tropez, 04 94 97 02 53

The new generation of cool and trendy beaches

The spirit of La Voile Rouge and Nikki Beach was before. Phew: the new generation has succeeded in the feat of recovering cannon spaces now accessible in a more reasonable way in a
wildly bohemian gypset (gypsy / jet-set) spirit.

This is evidently demonstrated by the expected success of Gigi , the beach house designed by Hugo Toro for Paris Society ( Mun , Girafe , Perruche , etc.) in Ramatuelle with a swimming pool and deckchairs under the umbrella pines. And since these people have understood everything, the children will be able to let loose at the kids club while others will start a game of Molkky or go for a massage at the Loft Holidermie. Book your place in the sun as far in advance as possible, as well as an Italian lunch: courgette flower fritters, truffle arancini, margherita and vitello tonnato (€23).

True 100% Tropezian entrepreneurs, the three thirty-year-old founders of the Indie Group (also at the head of La Sauvageonne ) have decided to cool Saint-Tropez from evening to morning, and their chill beach club is superb testimony to this. Playamigos already looks like a holiday all around the Mediterranean with, as a bonus, a Greek-Lebanese menu perfect for sunny days...

Hotel Lou Pinet: Provençal paradise

Saint-Tropez as in the 60's, at the time of Bardot, do you dream of it? This is the promise of Lou Pinet , a mythical Saint-Tropez address that reconnects with the Provençal DNA of the place. Looks like the swimming pool . Starting with its extraordinary Olympic pool where only Alain Delon and Romy Schneider are missing to do your breaststroke and small private gardens adjoining the suites to live your life as a couple...

Atmosphere, atmosphere: the bar in the garden to sip a glass of rosé to the sound of cicadas, a petanque court to shoot or point at the setting sun and a restaurant under the pergola. And to recover from your emotions: the Tata Harper spa .
