Saint-Trop 'anti-bling: user manual in 15 addresses

Saint Tropez

Anti-bling, more bohemian, more authentic ... Saint-Tropez in 2021 prolongs the summer in a feel good spirit, far from the bombastic addresses cherished by multimillionaires who, anyway since the covid, have preferred to buy villas around to avoid the crowds - according to the theories of the locals.

As a matter of fact, September turns out to be the perfect month to enjoy this charming fishing village without the floods of holidaymakers, but always under the exact sun. And that's good: most of the chill-out residences that have sold out and been in the summer remain open for the most part until October. The opportunity to (re) discover Saint-Trop 'in its new light with our favorite addresses. Do you, do you?

Hotel de Paris: a swimming pool with rooftop

If you arrive in Saint-Tropez by boat (so chic, even by shuttle), you can't find a hotel closer to the pier, just in front of Chanel. Taken over by the former director of Bristol, the Hôtel de Paris stands out for its charming heart: the only rooftop in the village, overlooking the sea and on which there is a magical swimming pool which can be accessed by an elevator that seems to be propel us directly into the water (to your Insta stories).

Enjoy the sunset around an aperitivo with socca (€ 16), regional Maison Giol oysters (€ 22 for 6), black truffle pizza, homemade foie gras toast (€ 26) or cold meats board with garlic-rubbed bread, to sprinkle with a glass of Minuty rosé (€ 18) or a sublime well-chilled cocktail. A perfect suspended moment before going to dinner and find your room with refined decor and a bathroom filled with Clarins products ...

Also note: chef Damien Cruchet offers his demented and locavores picnic baskets to take on board at the beach (from € 160 to € 220 for two people).

Gourmet Break Package with breakfast, dinner with food and wine pairing, upgrade and arrival and departure times at your convenience from 411

€ per night for two people (minimum stay of two nights)

A festive dinner at TIGrr

Nestled in the Ermitage hotel on the hills of the village just above the Place des Lices, the TIGrr restaurant brings together large tables of friends around a feel good musical theme, orchestrated by a group that asks you for your song. favorite before performing it and invite everyone to participate. It is in this friendly atmosphere that Jérôme Foucaud's new address (ex-Byblos) dominates the village under its umbrella pines with its terraces and two pétanque courts.

But there are no southern dishes at the popular TIGrr table, which exclusively sells Thai specialties in sexy baby mode: sushi (€ 18), King Crab spring rolls (€ 25), stir-fried noodles with vegetables (€ 10), TIGrr which sings (€ 36), gilthead sea bream in banana leaf (€ 25) and signature makis tempura shrimp (€ 28) or chive cheese (€ 35). We obviously drink with frankly good cocktails in crazy colors (turquoise, purple…), before continuing the evening at the bar in a more mischievous atmosphere and a superb decor signed Astrid Maillet-Contoz.

The alternative: La Sauvageonne

Hôtel La Ponche: the renewal of a legendary address

It is arguably the cutest and most authentic hotel in Saint-Tropez. No wonder then that Simone de Beauvoir, Romy Schneider, Brigitte Bardot, Françoise Sagan and so many others have trodden its small stairs in the spirit of a family home. La Ponche is getting a makeover in the hands of architect Fabrizio Casiraghi, who has brought the chic soul up to date: floor tiles, mansards and discreet luxury fabrics. Note: book a class with the Tigre Yoga Club to greet the sun from the pontoon, barefoot almost in the water… Magic!

In addition to its dream location just above Ponche beach (a little wonder in the middle of the city), the hotel offers itself a restaurant with the young chef prodigy Thomas Danigo at the helm (we already loved its fresh cuisine at the Galanga of the Monsieur George hotel). We have lunch facing the sea: gazpacho of peas, mint and basil, fresh goat's cheese from the Var region (€ 18), sea bream ceviche with beautiful eyes, citrus fruits and coriander basil sorbet (€ 18), grilled catch of the day, vegetables from our market gardeners, La Ponche virgin sauce (€ 48) and roasted apricots with lavender honey, almond and pine nut crumble, ricotta and lavender ice cream (€ 18). Necessary.

The new generation of cool and trendy beaches

The spirit of Voile Rouge and Nikki Beach is the world before or those we do not want to cross.

Phew, the new generation has succeeded in the feat of recovering cannon spaces now accessible in a more reasonable way in a wildly bohemian gypset (gypsy / jet-set) spirit.

This is evident from the expected success of Gigi , the beach house imagined by Hugo Toro on the Ramatuelle side with a swimming pool and deckchairs under the umbrella pines, under the expert guidance of Paris Society ( Mun , Girafe , Perruche, etc.). And since it is undoubtedly the spot where you have to be seen, you reserve your place in the sun as long as possible in advance, as well as a lunch: fritters of zucchini flowers (€ 26), truffle arancini (€ 22), margherita (€ 18) and vitello tonnato (€ 23), to be washed down with a pool of Peyrassol rosé and ice cubes with a shovel (€ 60 per bottle). And since these people have understood everything, the children will be able to let loose (us) at the kids club while others will start a game of Molkky or go for a massage at Loft Holidermie. Can we settle down for life?

Another hot spot of the Indian summer, spending a day at the Playamigos beach club already looks like a vacation all around the Mediterranean. The three founders of the Indie Group in their thirties, true Tropéziens (also at the head of La Sauvageonne , an amazing evening address for partying in a jungle in Robinson Crusoe style) have decided to cool Saint Tropez from evening to morning, and their chill-out beach is superb testimony to this. with, as a bonus, a Greco-Lebanese menu perfect for sunny days: moutabal (€ 16), tabbouleh (€ 18), fried cauliflower (€ 18), falafels (€ 18), grilled octopus (€ 32 ) ...

Lou Pinet

Saint-Tropez as in the 60's, at the time of Bardot, you dream of it? This is the promise of Lou Pinet, a mythical address in Saint-Tropez which reconnects with the Provencal DNA of the place. It feels like the pool. Starting with its extraordinary Olympic basin where only Alain Delon and Romy Schneider are missing to swim and small private gardens adjoining the suites to live your life as a couple ...

Atmosphere, atmosphere: the bar in the garden to sip a glass of rosé to the sound of cicadas, a pétanque court for shooting or pointing at the setting sun and a restaurant under the pergola. And to recover from your emotions: the Tata Harper spa.
