Hamnet
Already crowned with two Golden Globes (Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama), the adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel directed by Chloé Zhao (double Academy Award winner for Nomadland in 2021) is making a splash even before its French theatrical release. The pitch ? A deeply personal reimagining of the intimate life of William Shakespeare and his wife as they face the loss of their son.
An outstanding cast brings modern resonance to the writer’s private grief. Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley portray the couple with heartbreaking accuracy, surrounded by sumptuous sets and stunning period costumes. All of it is elevated by delicate direction and performances already widely praised – and even awarded – Jessie Buckley having won the Golden Globe for Best Actress. A moving exploration of sorrow and mourning, depicted with devastating tenderness. Tissues highly recommended.
Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao. In theaters January 21
Gourou
After Un homme idéal and Boîte noire, director Yann Gozlan reunites with his favorite actor. In Gourou, Pierre Niney swaps the cape and sword of his latest role – Edmond Dantès in Le Comte de Montecristo – for a microphone and undeniable charisma. He plays Mathieu Vasseur, a magnetic coach who electrifies crowds with every speech.
The idea behind this paranoid thriller ? To portray the modern mentor figure – both charismatic and dangerous – to whom people give their time, money, and trust in the hope of becoming the best version of themselves. To build his character, Pierre Niney drew inspiration from Tom Cruise in Magnolia and Jake Gyllenhaal in Night Call : intensely unsettling references.
Gourou, directed by Yann Gozlan. In theaters January 28.

Wuthering Heights
Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie together in an adaptation of Emily Brontë’s cult novel ? That’s the bold challenge Emerald Fennell (Saltburn) takes on brilliantly with this full-scale reimagining of Wuthering Heights.
For over two hours, we follow the impossible love between Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi), a tormented young orphan, and the gentle Catherine (Margot Robbie), set in a pop, sensual, slightly offbeat universe. With a ridiculously attractive cast led by Hollywood favorites, a slick soundtrack by Charli XCX, and jaw-dropping costumes – spectacular wedding dresses, puffed sleeves, sharp lapels – you know where to find us on Valentine’s Day.
Hurlevent, directed by Emerald Fennell. In theaters February 11.

Coutures
The new gem from director Alice Winocour – who previously worked with Eva Green (Proxima), Virginie Efira (Revoir Paris), and Diane Kruger (Maryland) – stars the breathtaking Angelina Jolie and plunges us into the frenzy of Paris Fashion Week.
She plays Maxine Walker, an American filmmaker in Paris to shoot a fashion short film, who learns she has cancer. During her stay, she meets Ada (Anyier Anei), a young South Sudanese model, and Angèle (Ella Rumpf), a French makeup artist dreaming of another future. Set in some of Paris’s most beautiful locations, the cast is rounded out by two beloved French actors : Vincent Lindon as the director’s doctor and Louis Garrel as her devoted cinematographer. We already can’t wait to hear Angelina Jolie speak French and see Paris shine in one of the most fashion-forward films of the year.

Marty Supreme
Inspired by the life of American table tennis legend Marty Reisman, this biopic directed by Josh Safdie, titled Marty Supreme, focuses on the rise of the lanky athlete nicknamed “the Needle” in 1950s–60s New York. And the face chosen to portray the ping-pong champion ? None other than Hollywood’s ultimate it-boy, Timothée Chalamet.
His recent Golden Globe win for Best Actor, an explosive promo campaign featuring a video shot on the roof of the Las Vegas Sphere, and an equally impressive supporting cast – Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Tyler The Creator, Abel Ferrara, and the iconic Fran Drescher – have firmly placed Marty Supreme among the most anticipated movies of early 2026.
Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie. In theaters February 18.

Die My Love
Since its screening last May at the Cannes Film Festival, Die My Love has been as divisive as it is mesmerizing. Director Lynne Ramsay captures a succession of life moments, and, above all, emotional breakdowns.
In an almost claustrophobic setting, we follow young mother Gracie as she struggles with mental health issues exacerbated by postpartum depression. Despite a beautiful house in the woods and a healthy baby, she begins to suffocate. This powerful, dark role is carried by the brilliant Jennifer Lawrence – Academy Award winner for Silver Linings Playbook – whose performance has already stunned Cannes audiences. Alongside her, Robert Pattinson plays the emotionally absent husband, completing an already iconic duo.
Die My Love, directed by Lynne Ramsay. In theaters March 4.

Le Diable s’habille en Prada

Twenty years after the iconic first film, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway slip back into high heels and haute couture to bring Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of Runaway, and her former assistant back to life. One promise : a deep dive into the ruthless world of fashion journalism.
In this sequel – written by Aline Brosh McKenna, already behind the original script – the fashion press is in crisis. A new challenge for Miranda, who turns to former colleagues, including Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), now a powerful executive in the advertising world. Cult characters Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) and Nigel (Stanley Tucci) also return, joined by newcomers Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Pauline Chalamet, and even Lady Gaga. A sequel that promises to live up to – or even surpass – the original.
Le Diable s’habille en Prada 2, directed by David Frankel. In theaters April 29.

The Bride!
After Frankenstein starring Jacob Elordi and directed by Guillermo del Toro, it’s time to tell the story of his bride. Directed by the brilliant Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Lost Daughter), The Bride! shines a spotlight on the creature’s lesser-known wife.
The pitch ? Consumed by loneliness, the man created by science travels to Chicago with a mission : to ask Dr. Euphronios to create him a companion. How ? By resurrecting a murdered young woman, of course. But once the bride comes to life, things don’t go exactly as planned. Christian Bale plays the most endearing of monsters, while Jessie Buckley – also starring in Hamnet – portrays his extravagant bride. Murders, outlaw lovers, and a horror romance with Bonnie & Clyde vibes: a monstrously delicious epic we can’t wait to discover in 2026.
The Bride!, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. In theaters March 4.

L’Odyssée
Who better than Christopher Nolan to tackle Homer’s L’Odyssée ? The director of Oppenheimer, Interstellar, and Inception returns with a monumental adaptation of Ulysses’ epic journey.
Nothing was done halfway : a colossal budget nearing $250 million, filming on locations that inspired the original epic, massive sets, and even a specially built Trojan Horse. The cherry on top ? A jaw-dropping all-star cast : Matt Damon (Ulysses), Tom Holland (Telemachus), Anne Hathaway (Penelope), Mia Goth (Melantho), Zendaya (Athena), Charlize Theron (Circe), Jon Bernthal (Menelaus), and Robert Pattinson (Antinous). Even though only a few images have been revealed so far, one thing is certain : a sweeping Mediterranean mythological fresco awaits us in 2026.
L’Odyssée, directed by Christopher Nolan. In theaters July 15.

Les Misérables
Director Fred Cavayé offers a new adaptation of Victor Hugo’s legendary novel Les Misérables, marking one of the most anticipated French films of 2026. To revisit such a masterpiece, he assembles a dream cast worthy of the challenge : Camille Cottin (Madame Thénardier), Tahar Rahim (Inspector Javert), Vincent Lindon (Jean Valjean), Noémie Merlant (Fantine), and Benjamin Lavernhe (Monsieur Thénardier).
They are joined by a wave of rising talents : Vassili Schneider (Marius), Marie Colomb (Éponine), Megan Northam (Colette), and the promising Sayyid El Alami. We rediscover Jean Valjean, an ex-convict imprisoned for 19 years for stealing bread, striving to rebuild his identity while helping Fantine and Cosette. Revolutionary Paris, period costumes, social struggle, love stories, and cinema heavyweights : a certified future hit.
