Nostalgia is hitting hard… and biopics are more popular than ever. Hollywood knows exactly how to tap into our craving to revisit the legends we grew up with. After Austin Butler as Elvis, Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe, Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen and Timothée Chalamet slipping into the boots of Bob Dylan, it’s time to zoom in on three upcoming biopics that are about to get you hooked.
Michael

Simply titled Michael, this biographical drama retraces the entire journey of the King of Pop, from his early days as a child star with Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, to the creation of the iconic album Thriller in 1982, and his meteoric rise to global fame.
But the big question was : who could possibly play Michael Jackson ? Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Equalizer) and producer Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody) set their sights on Jaafar Jackson, a 29-year-old singer, actor and – crucially – Michael Jackson’s own nephew, son of Jermaine Jackson. It will be his first major appearance on the big screen, alongside notable names like Miles Teller and Colman Domingo.

Marty Supreme

Focused on American ping-pong legend Marty Reisman, nicknamed “The Needle,” the biopic Marty Supreme – directed by Josh Safdie – dives into his rise in 1950s–1960s New York. And for the lead role ? None other than Hollywood’s ultimate it-boy, Timothée Chalamet, who has reportedly been training for the part since 2018 according to The Hollywood Reporter. The rest of the cast is just as impressive: Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Tyler, The Creator, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher, the iconic Nanny herself.

Beatles

It won’t arrive before 2028, but this is already THE biopic sending shockwaves across the globe. Director Sam Mendes (Skyfall, Spectre) is taking on a groundbreaking challenge: telling the story of The Beatles through four separate films, each from the point of view of one band member. Four stories that intertwine, overlap and offer different perspectives on the band’s extraordinary rise. The cast is nothing short of spectacular : Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. And let’s not forget the brilliant actresses joining the adventure: Saoirse Ronan, Aimee Lou Wood, Anna Sawai, and Mia McKenna-Bruce. A unique format to rediscover the phenomenon that shaped modern music.
