Carnavalet: the reopening of the favorite museum of Parisians in the Marais

The Re-opening of the Musee Carnavalet in Paris.

After the Pinault Collection , it is the very exciting opening that Parisiennes were impatiently awaiting after 4 years of renovation of the Carnavalet Museum .

A pure jewel to rediscover dare dare in the Marais and to extend with a brunch , drink or dinner at Olympe , the green and stylish café opened by the Assembly Group (Edo, Silencio, Wanderlust, that's them ... ) designed by the architect François Champsaur , and installed in the secret courtyard of this extraordinary mansion, located on the cobblestones of the rue des Francs-Bourgeois.

Once upon a time ... Paris

The uniqueness of this museum? It tells the story of Paris from prehistoric times to Charlie Hebdo and confinement ...

The tone is set in the first rooms which reconstitute the atmosphere of a street in 1900 with the signs of trades exhibited and real storefronts of pharmacy, restaurants, bakery, inns like a dive “in real life” in a film by time. Staggering!

Here we go for kilometers of walks in Parisian life through the centuries starting with prehistory… This is evidenced by the incredible canoe worthy of Pocahontas , on which Neolithic men circulated on the Seine in 2800 BC. JC, life in Lutèce (a real revival of Asterix) or the trip into the Middle Ages and the creation of Pont-Neuf and the intellectual life that emerged between the Île de la Cité and Saint-Germain des Prés .

The musee carnavalet garden in Paris.

The visit continues like an incredible race in history, between La Régence and Les Lumières , but above all with special attention paid to the French Revolution . We find there among others the declaration of the rights of man and of the citizen, the table of David on the States General… until the beginning of the 1st republic and the martyrs of the revolution until Napoleon and all his trunks and unpacked luggage ...

Make way for Haussmann, Napoleon III, the Headquarters and the Commune… But above all extraordinary rooms around Paris Belle Epoque , in the settings of the Café de Paris and the Universal Exhibition. Special mention to the reconstruction of Proust's Room… Before the 20th and 21st centuries, particularly well narrated.

We like: routes designed for children with works of their size in all rooms and simplified explanations “just for them”.
