Best Luxury Hotels in Champagne

Champagne has evolved far beyond a simple day trip for wine tasting. Over the past few years, the vineyards surrounding Reims and Épernay have welcomed a new generation of exceptional luxury hotels, combining world-class hospitality with the authentic character of France's most prestigious wine region. Historic champagne houses have been transformed into elegant retreats, cutting-edge spas overlook UNESCO-listed vineyards, and Michelin-starred restaurants celebrate the region's remarkable terroir. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a wellness escape or a gourmet weekend less than two hours from Paris, these are the finest hotels in Champagne.

Domaine Les Crayères

Imagine Downton Abbey transported to the heart of Champagne. Perched on the historic Saint-Nicaise hill in Reims, opposite the Basilica of Saint-Remi, Domaine Les Crayères is one of the most iconic luxury hotels in Champagne. Built in 1904 as the residence of the Polignac family, the château perfectly embodies French elegance. Redesigned by renowned interior architect Pierre-Yves Rochon, the estate effortlessly combines Empire-style grandeur with the warmth of an intimate country house. Surrounded by seven hectares of wooded parkland filled with century-old cedar trees, the property is anything but minimalist. Its 20 rooms and suites—spread between the Château and the Cottage—feature sumptuous fabrics from Pierre Frey, Dedar and Lelièvre, period woodwork and traditional Toile de Jouy wallpaper. Modern comforts are seamlessly integrated into this timeless setting.

Gastronomy plays a starring role. At the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Le Parc, Chef Christophe Moret delivers refined French cuisine built around exceptional sauces, seasonal vegetables and impeccable technique. Guests seeking a more relaxed atmosphere can enjoy lunch at Le Jardin, while La Rotonde bar boasts one of the region's finest champagne collections with more than 600 labels. Hidden beneath the estate lies one of Champagne's greatest treasures: a historic underground bunker housing an extraordinary cellar of 72,000 bottles, including over 1,200 different champagnes. The hotel also enjoys an ideal location within walking distance of prestigious champagne houses such as Taittinger and Vranken-Pommery.

Why we love it: the château terrace overlooking the park, Christophe Moret's unforgettable cuisine and immediate access to Reims' legendary champagne houses.

64, Boulevard Henry Vasnier 51100 Reims. From €705 per night.

Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa

Once a coaching inn where horses were changed before the coronation of French kings in Reims, the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa has reinvented itself as one of France's most spectacular luxury retreats. In June 2026, it became the first hotel in northeastern France to receive the prestigious Palace distinction. Designed by architect Giovanni Pace, the contemporary 10,000-square-metre extension appears to float above the vineyards thanks to its striking white Euville stone architecture. Every one of its 49 rooms and suites features a private terrace overlooking the rolling hills of Champagne and the village of Hautvillers, where Dom Pérignon rests.

Wellness is at the heart of the experience. Under the direction of spa manager Anna Pierzak, guests enjoy Biologique Recherche and KOS treatments, a spectacular 25-metre indoor pool, and a heated outdoor infinity pool seemingly suspended above the vines. Electric bike tours through the vineyards complete the experience. Dining includes the relaxed Bellevue brasserie and the Michelin-starred Le Royal restaurant, making this one of the most complete luxury escapes in Champagne.

Why we love it: the breathtaking vineyard infinity pool, the scientifically designed sleep programme and sunset champagne on the panoramic terrace.

9 rue de la République, 51160 Champillon. From €1,027 per night.

Le 25bis by Leclerc Briant

Located on Épernay's legendary Avenue de Champagne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Le 25bis by Leclerc Briant offers an entirely different luxury experience. Instead of a grand palace, this beautifully restored 18th-century merchant's residence delivers the intimacy of an exclusive private home. Member of both Teritoria and Esprit de France, the property was carefully renovated by architects Ramsey Krause, preserving original pine floors, Empire mouldings and historic character while introducing Scandinavian design pieces by Ercol and Carl Hansen & Son.

One of the highlights is the remarkable dining room featuring a hand-printed panoramic wallpaper by the historic Zuber manufacture, produced using original 1848 wooden printing blocks. With just five individually designed rooms, the atmosphere remains exceptionally peaceful. Romantic travellers will particularly appreciate Room No. 5 beneath the eaves, while Épernay's restaurants and champagne houses are only a ten-minute walk away.

Why we love it: the feeling of staying in a private residence on Champagne's most prestigious avenue.

Hôtel L'Assiette Champenoise

Just outside Reims in Tinqueux stands one of France's great gastronomic institutions. Founded in 1975 by Colette and Jean-Pierre Lallement, L'Assiette Champenoise is now run by the next generation, with three-Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Lallement leading the kitchen alongside his wife Magali and sister Mélanie. Arnaud Lallement's cuisine is celebrated worldwide for its purity, precision and deep respect for Champagne's terroir. Dining here alone is reason enough to visit.

The five-star Relais & Châteaux hotel features around thirty spacious contemporary rooms and suites decorated with oversized reproductions of famous paintings above the beds. Guests looking for the ultimate indulgence should reserve Suite 5, complete with a private hammam, jacuzzi and secluded garden terrace. Between unforgettable meals, guests can unwind in the elegant lounges or enjoy the heated indoor swimming pool.

Why we love it: the welcoming family atmosphere, one of France's finest three-Michelin-starred restaurants and the luxurious indoor pool.

Standing among the vineyards of Mutigny near Épernay, Loisium Wine & Spa Hotel brings striking contemporary architecture to the Champagne landscape. Opened in late 2022, the hotel was designed by celebrated designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku. Surrounded by forest on one side and prestigious vineyards belonging to Bollinger, Deutz and Roederer on the other, the Austrian-born brand has created a hotel that blends seamlessly into nature through floor-to-ceiling windows and warm natural materials.

Its 101 rooms and suites overlook either the vineyards or the surrounding woodland. The hotel's standout feature is its impressive 1,000-square-metre spa, complete with sauna, hammam, sanarium and a heated outdoor swimming pool open throughout the year. Restaurant L'Horisium serves locally sourced bistronomic cuisine using ingredients produced within an 80-kilometre radius, celebrating both Champagne and neighbouring Ardennes flavours.
