3 Stunning Restaurant Terraces Open Throughout August

Justice for August staycationers! While many Parisians leave the city for the holidays, August is actually one of the best times to enjoy Paris. We’ve rounded up three restaurants that stay open all summer long, with no seasonal closure, and boast truly magical terraces where you can make the most of the city's peaceful atmosphere. Whether you're after a leisurely breakfast, a chic lunch or an elegant Asian dinner in one of Paris's finest neighbourhoods, these three favourite addresses shine all year round—but even more so in summer.

For a Peaceful Breakfast: Chez Julien

The Terrace: Nestled at the southern tip of the Marais, almost opposite the Seine, Chez Julien instantly catches the eye with its turquoise façade, three charming terraces and beautiful Belle Époque dining room visible through wide-open windows. And yes—three terraces. A cosy one sits at the entrance, another covered terrace runs alongside the restaurant complete with elegant carpeting, while the third overlooks a picturesque cobbled street that feels like a peaceful square in a Provençal village. A true oasis of calm in the heart of Paris. Open continuously from morning until late evening, Chez Julien is especially delightful for breakfast, when you can watch the city slowly come to life over coffee.

Our Favourite Dishes: From 8am, settle on the terrace and order a freshly squeezed orange, lemon or grapefruit juice (€8), a Viennese coffee or hot chocolate (€10), or a Mariage Frères tea alongside one of the breakfast favourites: a truffle omelette (€18), a cream cheese, smoked salmon and avocado croissant (€14), crispy toasted Poujauran bread topped with smoked salmon and avocado (€15), or homemade granola served with fromage blanc, honey and fresh berries (€12). Parisian breakfast perfection.

Chez Julien, 1 rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, Paris 4th. +33 (0)1 42 78 31 64. Open daily, 8am–11pm.

For an Elegant Lunch: Scossa

The Terrace: Overlooking the elegant Place Victor Hugo in Paris's 16th arrondissement, Scossa has mastered the art of the leisurely lunch. Chic yet relaxed, with impeccable service and a stylish clientele, it's the ideal place to enjoy a sunny midday break. Whether you're stopping in for a quick business lunch or lingering over a classic Parisian brasserie experience, chef David Crozat—formerly of Monsieur Bleu, Hôtel Costes and La Fontaine Gaillon—delivers refined French cuisine with effortless expertise.

Our Favourite Dishes: Start with the irresistible crispy Thai-style chicken spring rolls (€16.50)—perfect for sharing, although you may not want to. For mains, hearty appetites will love the smash burger served with exceptionally thin, crispy fresh fries (€28.50), while lighter options include the Caesar salad (€25) or the colourful quinoa salad with feta, pomegranate, figs, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and Kalamata olives (€24). To finish, choose between the rich chocolate fondant (€12.50) and indulgent French toast with red berries (€12).

Scossa, 8 Place Victor Hugo, Paris 16th. +33 (0)1 53 64 24 00. Open daily, 8am–2am.

For a Glamorous Dinner: Lily Wang

The Terrace: A favourite among politicians and media insiders, Lily Wang is one of the chicest Asian restaurants in Paris's 7th arrondissement. Recently taken over by the trio Xavier Niel, Pierre-Antoine Capton and Laurent de Gourcuff, the restaurant has entered a new era while retaining its exclusive appeal. Inside, legendary designer Jacques Garcia's interiors have been subtly softened by architect Johanna Amatoury (Maison Monceau, La Petite Chaise, Casa Pregonda). Outside, however, the spacious terrace—sheltered from traffic—is the real highlight. Keep your eyes open: there's a good chance you'll spot a celebrity or two dining discreetly.

Our Favourite Dishes: Chef Jian Lang Wang serves beautifully executed Asian classics that appeal to everyone. Begin with impeccable fresh spring rolls (€22), an assortment of six dim sum (€28), and beef-and-onion bao buns (€20). For mains, choose between crispy duck with hoisin sauce (€40), crying tiger beef (€42), caramel-glazed pork (€35), or garlic and coriander prawns (€40). Pair your meal with sticky rice (€10), stir-fried noodles with chives (€8), or sesame broccolini (€14). Dessert is hard to resist: opt for the homemade ice cream mochis (our favourites are lychee-raspberry, matcha and coconut, €15 for three) or the wonderfully addictive mango sticky rice (€14). Last but certainly not least, don't miss the expertly crafted cocktails, especially the delicate Jardin d'Été, made with Roku gin, homemade jasmine tea syrup and aquafaba (€20).

Lily Wang, 40 Avenue Duquesne, Paris 7th. +33 (0)1 53 86 09 09. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
