The New Concept Store Shaking Up the Marais

Paris may be the world capital of fashion, where shopping is practically an art de vivre, but it had been a while since a concept store made us feel this way: the kind of place you fall in love with from the very first second, where you want to buy everything, gift everything, and rethink your entire interior while you’re at it. Welcome to Makers Editions, a new arrival in the heart of the Marais, tucked away from the noise yet right in the middle of everything.

A surgical curation

The storefront already catches the eye: a large window, natural light pouring in, and a space that already feels like it can breathe. Inside, you discover a rare kind of place where art, craftsmanship, and menswear coexist with real precision, within a generous space where each universe finds its place without ever overwhelming the others. Wood, used throughout, instantly warms up the atmosphere, while ceramics bring in the colourful touches that give the space all its charm.

This is very much the signature of Mélissa Jacob and Alexandre Mercier, a couple with a background in luxury hospitality who have kept that obsession with detail and one simple conviction: nothing is chosen at random. Each designer, each brand is brought into the selection because its DNA resonates with the whole, because there is a story to tell, a savoir-faire to pass on. You’ll find clothes made from beautiful materials, designed to last, but also objects you’ll want to keep for years. As Alexandre told us: “Even if the trend fades, we want the garment itself to stay — so you can still wear our shirt two years later.”

Our favourites — and choosing wasn’t easy

On the ceramics side, we fell for Capucine Pagenron’s pieces and their delicate blue-toned drawings, where nature and human silhouettes meet. Special mention goes to her ceramic polaroids (€60), which we can already picture hanging on our living room wall. We’re also obsessed with the bubble chandelier by Romaine Editions, with its ice-cream scoop feel (€60), created by designer Pauline Vincent. Another absolute favourite: Koko Che Jota’s printed ceramic pieces, designed like frames (€240), as well as Laetitia Rouget’s ultra-colourful plates (€80), perfect for an aperitif that makes a statement.

The fashion rails are curated with the same care, with brands selected for their beautiful materials and precisely cut silhouettes — not just for their current hype. We spotted a khaki jacket by Danish brand Another Aspect, with an almost overshirt-like feel (€425), and a perfectly cut blue striped shirt by Knickerbocker (€240), a New York label with preppy chic appeal. While menswear is currently in the spotlight, the store is set to expand into womenswear this autumn.

Open Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
