Domaine de la Bretesche

Hidden in the countryside near Missillac, Domaine de la Bretesche unfolds across 200 hectares on the edge of the Parc naturel régional de Brière. Overlooked by a 15th-century château reflected in the lake below, this Relais & Châteaux property from the B Signature collection has cultivated its own unique identity for over three decades.

In 2025, architect Stéphanie Decurey led an extensive renovation that transformed this five-star hotel into one of the finest luxury retreats in Brittany. The 25 rooms, 6 suites, and 9 villas now feature an elegant boudoir-inspired style, blending carefully sourced antiques, Pierre Frey fabrics, and Ananbô wallpapers. Some overlook the lake or golf course, while others enjoy views of the Cour Carrée and its centuries-old lime tree. The duplex villas, set amid lush greenery and spanning 60 sqm, feature living rooms, kitchenettes, and private terraces. They are ideal for guests seeking the freedom of a private residence combined with the comfort of hotel services.

At Le Club restaurant, chef Filipe Silvestre celebrates Brittany’s terroir with a cuisine deeply rooted in the region. Produce comes from the permaculture vegetable garden, complemented by local Breton specialties. Lunch offers generous dishes, while dinner menus showcase a more refined culinary approach. The Bar des Écuries, housed in former horse stalls transformed into intimate alcoves, extends the evening in an atmosphere reminiscent of a private members’ club, with aged leather, wood paneling, and an impressive collection of rare whiskies.

For relaxation, the spa in the Cour Carrée sits beneath a stunning glass roof and combines Cinq Mondes and Omnisens treatments with a 14-meter indoor pool heated year-round.

Why we love it: the 18-hole golf course designed by Henry Cotton in 1967, winding through oak and red willow trees. Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful golf courses in Brittany, it is worth experiencing at least once, even for non-golfers.

Castel Beau Site

On Brittany’s iconic Pink Granite Coast, in Ploumanac’h, Castel Beau Site enjoys one of the most coveted waterfront locations in the region. Built in 1928 directly on a beach framed by pink granite formations—one of only three such geological sites in the world—the hotel has undergone several transformations throughout its history, from family guesthouse to military residence, before emerging as an elegant luxury property and member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Its 33 contemporary rooms and suites mostly face the sea. Some feature balconies overlooking the waves, while others enjoy views of the Saint-Guirec Chapel, located next to the hotel, and the towers of Costaérès Castle perched on its private island. At La Table de mon père, chef Nicolas Le Luyer, a native of Guingamp who has led the kitchen since 2013, creates cuisine inspired by local traditions. Tasting menus showcase Trégor oysters, freshly landed coastal fish, and seasonal ingredients prepared with the precision of someone deeply connected to the region. Between meals, guests can unwind in the bar or library, sinking into deep sofas while watching the tide rise over Saint-Guirec Beach.

Why we love it: the famous Sentier des Douaniers coastal trail begins literally at the hotel’s doorstep. Within minutes, you are walking along one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in France.

137 Rue Saint-Guirec, 22700 Perros-Guirec. From €199 per night.

Le Grand Hôtel Dinard

In Dinard, one address has dominated the Bay of Saint-Malo for generations. Le Grand Hôtel perfectly embodies the elegance that has made this seaside resort famous: a refined blend of British sophistication and French art de vivre, infused with sea air and timeless style. Its 86 rooms and suites have been fully redesigned by Alexandre Danan in a palette of deep blues and sandy beiges, with every room designed to maximize the exceptional views.

The George V restaurant also opens onto the sea through large bay windows and serves generous Breton cuisine crafted by chef Wilfried Lacaille. Fresh coastal fish, regional specialties, and the renowned Sunday seafood buffet celebrate the very essence of Brittany’s culinary heritage. The 333 Café carries its own fascinating history. Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis once frequented the venue while filming The Vikings in Dinard in 1957. The atmosphere still evokes that glamorous era, with mahogany high chairs, coral armchairs, and summer piano-bar evenings.

Why we love it: ending the day at the Shiseido Ginza Tokyo Spa, featuring a heated swimming pool, Japanese wellness rituals, and panoramic views over the Emerald Coast. An unexpected yet perfect fusion of East and West.

46 Avenue George V, 35800 Dinard. From €273 per night.

Les Bassans

At the tip of Perros-Guirec, where the Sphinx rock formation overlooks the English Channel, Les Bassans welcomes guests within the former Villa Le Sphinx. Built in 1920 and an iconic landmark of the Pink Granite Coast since 1936, the property has been transformed into a boutique hotel named after Europe’s largest seabird: the Northern Gannet, whose colony nests on nearby Rouzic Island.

Its 25 sea-facing rooms are inspired by the elegance of 1930s ocean liners, featuring wood paneling, brass details, clean lines, and a constant emphasis on ocean views. The signature Cabine No. 4, suspended above the water and surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, offers one of the most spectacular panoramas in Brittany. Every room includes a telescope, allowing guests to observe Northern Gannets across the Sept-Îles archipelago or simply admire the changing light on the famous pink granite rocks. In the restaurant, chef Jean-Pascal Gebka creates a seasonal menu shaped by the rhythm of the tides and the daily catch from local fishermen.

Why we love it: enjoying a cocktail at sunset, whether a seaweed-infused gin creation or a Breton citrus vermouth, while watching the sun disappear behind the pink granite formations.

67 Chemin de la Messe, Perros-Guirec. From €200 per night.

Le Nessay

Between Saint-Lunaire and Lancieux, on the peninsula that bears its name, Le Nessay occupies a remarkable residence built in the late 19th century on the site of a former medieval fortress. Following a year-long renovation, Martin Bazin transformed the property into a charming 17-room seaside hotel, preserving its warm and welcoming family-home atmosphere.

Each room is unique and oriented toward the sea, featuring details reminiscent of a château: showers tucked inside turrets, round beds beneath sloping ceilings, freestanding bathtubs, and even a 40 sqm private terrace in the Nessay Suite overlooking Cap Fréhel. Outside, the scenery changes by the hour as tides rise and fall and the light shifts across the rocks. The Annex rooms, located right at the edge of the beach, provide front-row seats to this natural spectacle. The restaurant follows the same philosophy, serving seasonal dishes inspired by both the sea and Brittany’s rich terroir in a dining room open to the kitchen. At the bar, guests discover creative cocktails and sharing plates, enjoyed by the fireplace in winter or on the terrace during warmer months.

Why we love it: La Maison du Nessay, available for exclusive rental just two kilometers from the château. Featuring six bedrooms, a large heated swimming pool, two fireplaces, and an enclosed garden, it is the perfect retreat for families and groups of friends.

Boulevard du Bechay, 35800 Saint-Briac-sur-Mer. From €249 per night.
