Schnock : The Characterful Bistro Shaking Up the 17th

© Marie Desprez

Schnock. This familiar word, meaning an old fool or a slightly scatterbrained character, is also the wonderfully odd name of the new neighborhood bistro just steps from the chic Place Pereire. Created by Corsican-born Florence Pietrera, an artist and École du Louvre graduate, this convivial spot champions sharing, sincerity, and the endearing authenticity of all the “schnocks” who color our lives with their bold, quirky personalities. Here’s why Schnock is one of our latest crushes : you’ll eat incredibly well, drink excellent wine, and enjoy one of those soft, lingering moments that feel like home.

A Home Away from Home

More than just a restaurant, Schnock feels like a familiar hideaway where you sip wine and create real connections . Formerly an apartment, the space has kept its uniquely cozy energy thanks to the magic touch of interior designer Marie-Laure Navarro.

Across the four rooms, you’ll find exposed stone walls, vintage wooden furniture, mismatched textiles, and patterned plates. The detail we adore ? A panoramic Ananbô wallpaper depicting the bay of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, a Mediterranean nod to Florence’s heritage. We’ll let you find it

Generous, Seasonal Cooking

On the plate, expect zero fuss, just beautifully executed, simple dishes made for sharing over a great glass of wine. Start indulgently with their crispy, golden matchstick fries to share (or not) (€9) and their “brûle-doigts” cockles with ginger and lemongrass (€11) Must-order hits include the fresh mushroom fricassée with confit egg yolk and nettle jus (€14), and the refreshing Pyrénées trout gravlax with beet caviar and Iranian black lemon (€16).For mains, generosity continues with the petit épeautre risotto with roasted pumpkin (€22) and the roasted free-range chicken supreme, bathed in thyme jus and served with fluffy potato mousseline “just like grandma’s” (€28). And whatever you do, don’t leave without dessert: the mirabelle plum tart with double cream (€13) : pure childhood nostalgia. Also worth noting : a great lunch menu starting at €28.

The extra treat : from 6pm, Schnock transforms into an afterwork haven with its Comptoir Table d’Hôte : the perfect moment to unwind, taste great wines, and share a few extra plates for good measure.

Open Monday to Friday, 12:00–14:15 and 18:00–22:15
