The Asado Club: the empanadas hangout of canal Saint-Martin

Empanadas Asado

The place: an adorable hole in the wall, a skip and a hop from canal Saint-Martin. Scraped walls, small marble tables, school kids chairs. You can nibble right there, while Stéphane and Sabrina, his Argentine girlfriend, stuff and fold a mano great tasting stuffed latino pasties.

To test absolutely: the ham/mozzarella empanada, a wild offshoot of the usual ham/cheese. The sturdy Carne (chopped beef, glazed onion, peppers, tomato, egg). And the Veggie (sweet potato, rosemary, ricotta, egg).

Between two mouthfuls? A small salad with kale, red cabbage and carrots, washed down with a nice Argentine wine (5€ per glass).

We adore: the impeccable flaky pastry dough, so light you can wolf down three in a row without batting an eye. #oops

A dessert? No sweet version, but a coconut pudding pimped with dulce de leche (milk jam)—really amazing.

Open on Tuesday from 7pm to 10pm, Wednesday to Saturday from noon to 3pm and 7pm to 10pm. Empanada 3€.
