Louis Vuitton Unveils Its House for an Extraordinary Exhibition

The La Malle Courrier - Louis Vuitton et le Sport exhibition at the Maison Louis Vuitton à Paris

Did you know that in the chic suburb of Asnières-sur-Seine lies the Maison Louis Vuitton? Since the mid-19th century, the smartest and most visionary trunk maker of his time has set up both his workshops and his family home there, unknowingly becoming a pioneer of Greater Paris. In anticipation of the Paris 2024 Olympics, the historic house is hosting until September the exhibition "The Courier Trunk - Louis Vuitton and Sports", providing the perfect excuse for a fashionable outing just a hop away on Line 13. We slipped in, of course, to tell you all about it...

Art Nouveau Gem

Art Nouveau enthusiasts will swoon over this preserved and idyllic setting. One enters through a gate opening onto the garden (already a beauty in itself) to step into the intimacy of the Vuitton family. Even the table is set: it seems the whole clan is ready to enter and sit down for lunch. Trinkets, personal photographs, bow windows with flowered panes, an extraordinary turquoise fireplace, trunks of all sizes, and fresh flower bouquets complete this setting, giving the impression of being invited to stay among the Vuittons. We traverse the rooms until we reach another building housing the current exhibition...

A Comprehensive and Inspiring Exhibition

The Louis Vuitton house

Vuitton and sports, Vuitton and collaborations, Vuitton and travel, Vuitton and art... Through 21 trunks dating from 1864 to 2024, the almost infinite extent of creativity that drives the luxury House unfolds, from its inception by the incredible trunk maker who gave it his name. For this special exhibition, the curation has focused on bringing out particularly precious archives that trace the history of the brand.

At the heart of this new sports theme, here we admire the Pickleball trunk by Virgil Abloh (2021), the Supreme trunk by Kim Jones (2017), and another imagined in collaboration with the NBA (2022). But that's not all: mind-boggling special orders, ping-pong racket covers, a climbing-inspired bag by Nicolas Ghesquière, a freshly imagined bowling ball bag by Pharrell Williams, or even a dartboard briefcase pique curiosity, along with anamorphic video installations that instantly plunge us into an ostentatiously creative universe. Fans are dizzy with excitement, and so are we.

The Podcast to Listen To

To complete the experience, we recommend listening attentively beforehand to the Louis Vuitton [EXTENDED] podcast, in which the best fashion interviewer aka Loïc Prigent hosts Enzo Lefort, fencer and Ambassador of the House for the Paris 2024 Olympics. France's most stylish medalist (who brought us gold in Tokyo, no less) opens up about his inspiring journey, from his origins to his passion for photography, and his relationship with competition. A matter of passion and style to listen to right here.

The exhibition "The Courier Trunk - Louis Vuitton and Sports," free reservation, online: reserve your spot here. Every weekend, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Also discover the best (free!) exhibitions in Parisian galleries and the glamorous exhibition at MAD inspired by "Au bonheur des dames."
