The Best Hotels in Alsace

Often underrated, Alsace has plenty to offer : from the famous Wine Route to breathtaking landscapes, museums, and historic landmarks. Between the Unterlinden Museum in Colmar and Strasbourg Cathedral, there’s no shortage of things to do… and plenty of chances to indulge in gourmet cuisine at some of the best hotels in Alsace.

Resort Barrière Ribeauvillé

Nestled between the Alsace plains and the Vosges mountains, this stunning 4-star resort offers panoramic views of vineyards and medieval castles : the perfect escape. Spanning 12.2 hectares, the property features a hotel with 56 rooms (including two bright suites renovated in 2021 by designer Vincent Alliot for White Spirit), a 1,000 m² casino, a theater, and three bars. L’Esquisse Hôtel & Spa

Inside, the design pays tribute to Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the Statue of Liberty: marble and stone blocks at the entrance, a copper wave behind the reception desk echoing the statue’s gown, and a giant sculpted mask of Bartholdi’s face above the bar.

The spa features six treatment rooms (including two doubles), a swimming lane, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, ice fountain, and fitness studio.

Bonus : Breakfast is served buffet-style in a serene setting overlooking the park, with Alsatian specialties such as kougelhopf, pretzels, Vosges honey, and local cheeses.

5 Terres Hôtel & Spa

Located in Barr, the wine capital of Bas-Rhin and a key stop on the Alsace Wine Route, this 5-star MGallery hotel occupies a restored 16th-century building with half-timbered charm and vineyard views.

The 27 rooms (including a 60 m² suite) combine rustic elegance — stone walls, beams — with modern design elements: light oak, Italian furniture, gold-leaf lighting.
Its name, 5 Terres, refers to the five soil types found in the region’s vineyards (schist, limestone, clay, sandstone, and granite).

At La Table du 5, Chef Joël Philipps and Thomas Koehren reinterpret Alsatian cuisine through a seasonal, gourmet lens.

Bonus : The spa, set in a vaulted cellar, feels like a secret grotto. Treatments use Gemology and Valmont products, complemented by a pool, hammam, and sauna.
