The Sexiest Strawberry pies of the Season

Plougastel, Mara, Gariguettes... Strawberry season is officially open! The best pastry chefs are having a field day, reinventing spring's star fruit like no one else. Piped with verbena at Yann Couvreur, almond cream at Lenôtre, or chantilly at Jeffrey Cagnes: here is a zoom-in on the strawberry pies that won over the entire editorial team!

Jojo & Co

With its Éclat Rouge tart, Jojo & Co offers a bold take on the classic. Here, rhubarb awakens strawberries roasted in olive oil and vanilla, all enhanced by an airy orange blossom ganache and crunchy fresh fruit. An elegant, floral, and incredibly original pastry.

Jojo & Co, 37 Rue du Roi de Sicile, Paris 4th. Éclat Rouge tart: €38.

La Grande Épicerie de Paris

At La Grande Épicerie de Paris, Thibault Leroy has imagined a pie called Pour toi maman, a fresh creation that strikes the perfect balance between indulgence and delicacy. On a base of sweet pastry and almond cream drizzled with strawberry juice sits an ultra-light vanilla mascarpone cream, covered in French Gariguette strawberries. Special mention for the version with muscovado and hibiscus Breton shortbread, which is totally addictive.

La Grande Épicerie de Paris, addresses online. Individual strawberry pie at €8.50 and 6-person format at €42.

Lenôtre

If one had to summarize the perfect idea of a French strawberry tart, it would probably be this one. On a base of crunchy shortcrust pastry filled with almond cream, a wild strawberry confit and fresh French strawberries are delicately placed. An iconic recipe that celebrates spring in all its glory.

Lenôtre, find all boutiques online. Strawberry pie for 4 people: €40, for 6 people: €60.

Bontemps

Fiona Leluc's shortbreads should be reimbursed by social security. At Bontemps, the Allégresse pie honors the strawberry with a fleur de sel shortcrust pastry filled with light cream and Madagascar vanilla chantilly, all topped with magnificent fresh strawberries. A pastry as chic as it is comforting.

Bontemps, 57 rue de Bretagne, Paris 3rd and 23 rue de Poncelet, Paris 17th. Allégresse pie for 4/5 people: €48.

Hugues Pouget never messes around with fruit. It’s no wonder it regularly ranks among the best strawberry pies in Paris.

Hugo & Victor, 50 Rue du Cherche-Midi, Paris 6th. Strawberry pie for 4 people: €35, for 6 people: €49, or for 10 people: €65.
