A very coquette exhibition on the art of getting pampered

News Culture

Clean is the new in thing! And the Musée Marmottan-Monet has created a sensation with this quite unusual exhibition on the art of pampering one’s self since the 15th century.

According to the works on display (paintings, sculptures, engravings, prints, photos), gestures and beauty spaces have evolved quite a lot.

From scenes showcasing Marie-Antoinette (occasionally) taking her bath in front of a coterie of admirers to the insightful vision of padded boudoirs, artists (Dürer, Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Picasso, Fernand Léger) have captured more or less intimate moments… shocking !

La toilette. Naissance de l’intime, until July 5th 2015, Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm and late close on  Thursday until 9pm.
