Where to Have an Author's Breakfast in Paris?

Before going to work, for a professional appointment or to treat oneself to a moment alone on a pretty terrace: taking the time for a breakfast, it’s always a good idea! Under an ultra-chic glass roof, in a tiny coffee shop, at the café with the most beautiful view on Place de la Concorde, in a tea room on Champs-Élysées, in a travel-inspired version or outright palace-style: overview of the best places to have breakfast in Paris.

Four Seasons Hotel George V: the most luxurious

The place: it’s the most spectacular palace breakfast in Paris, and it will cost you no more than €78. In other words, a little luxury to treat yourself to if you want to play heir or heiress for the morning. The meeting is set (well in advance!) at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, more precisely in the dining room of its three-Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Cinq, the domain of chef Christian Le Squer. Seated in princely armchairs in the middle of this majestic décor, guests delight in discovering the specialties of head baker Guillaume Cabrol, partner of pastry chef Michael Bartocetti: here, breakfast becomes a moment of pure grace.

To start the day right: it’s impossible to miss the extraordinary breads and viennoiseries crafted by the chefs, starting with the best chausson aux pommes in Paris and an irresistibly indulgent pain aux raisins, which some happily dip into tea or a signature hot chocolate topped with whipped cream, chocolate pearls and marshmallow (#scandal). Placed on the tables, guests can also add aged cheeses, premium charcuterie, smoked salmon and supreme of poultry to their plate, not forgetting to build a homemade bowl with cereals, farm yogurts, fruits and muesli. Included in the formula, the eggs Benedict easily outshine the poached, scrambled or fried options, but true food lovers won’t hesitate to pay the €14 supplement for one of the Prestige Eggs: cocotte eggs with foie gras and black truffle, or the ultimate indulgence, the blue lobster omelette. A breakfast you’ll want every single morning.

Four Seasons Hotel George V, 31 avenue George V, Paris 8e01 49 52 70 00. Breakfast served daily from 7 am to 11 am.

Café Lacoste : the trendiest

The place : a new trend is pushing fashion brands to embrace the codes of lifestyle by opening restaurants, coffee shops and other foodie concepts in order to create a true brand experience. This is exactly what Lacoste is doing. After a pop-up restaurant at the Shangri-La Paris last summer and a first permanent address in Monaco, the brand has now opened Café Lacoste just steps from the Champs-Élysées. Under the direction of Riccardo Giraudi (Beefbar, Anahi), this charming address invites fans of the iconic crocodile brand to sit down at any time of the day in a décor inspired by the codes of tennis, of course.

To start the day right : while you can enjoy lunch here, we particularly recommend stopping by for a super cute, Instagram-worthy breakfast, also available to take away. On the menu: baguette with beurre d’Isigny and a selection of jams (€12), a pistachio croissant dressed in Lacoste’s signature green (€4.50), praliné bread (€4.50), chia pudding (€9), golden granola with roasted apples (€9), or even avocado toast with poached egg (€18). The ultimate banger : eggs Benedict served on an English muffin with a poached egg, fresh herb sauce and your choice of smoked salmon or Gran Biscotto cooked ham (€15), alongside a selection of freshly pressed boosting smoothies (Active Spirulina, Collagen Oxygen, Supra Turmeric…).

Café Lacoste, 16 avenue Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Paris 8e. Breakfast served Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, Saturday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. No reservations.

Les Capucines : the most Parisian

The place : located right across from L’Olympia, Les Capucines feels like it has always been there. Recently redesigned from top to bottom, this quintessentially Parisian café-restaurant, open continuously from morning to night, celebrates the spirit of those atmospheric headquarters where artists gather after performances. Red velvet, a monumental staircase, plush carpeting and wood paneling create a cinematic setting with a terrace, a spacious upper floor and beautiful banquette tables reminiscent of train seating overlooking the boulevard (our favorites are upstairs).

To start the day right : take a seat as early as 8 am and begin with a wellness juice (detox, green… €8) or a freshly pressed juice with the option to add spirulina or activated charcoal (#cleangirl), not to mention a selection of hot drinks. Then fully embrace your Parisian vibe with toasted bread with butter and jam (€3.50), chouquettes (€3) or a pain au chocolat (€3.50), paired with a plate of fried eggs and bacon (€11) or soft-boiled eggs (€7). It doesn’t get more Parisian than this!

Les Capucines, 39 boulevard des Capucines, Paris 2e. 01 42 61 14 71. Breakfast served daily from 8 am to 11:45 am, until 12 pm on weekends.

Kamo : the most Japanese

The place : oak wood paneling, warm tones and natural light streaming through windows open to the outside: welcome to Kamo. With its pocket-size format – only 16m² – this cozy little gem in the 10th arrondissement charms visitors with its ultra-cosy atmosphere and Asian inspirations. No fuss here, just a simple and warm vibe where you instantly feel like you’re among friends. Whether you choose to sit inside at the wooden counter to watch the coffee being prepared, or outside at the red tables whenever the sun is shining, a great moment is guaranteed. Our favorite little detail ? The newspapers placed on every table of the tiny terrace — a nod to the neighborhood bars of the past, now replaced by trendy coffee shops, and perfect to flip through with your coffee.

To start the day right : here, breakfast is enjoyed savory, in the spirit of traditional Asian morning meals. Start with a comforting cep mushroom broth with spring onion and silken tofu for glowing skin and great digestion (€7 dine-in / €5 takeaway). Then comes the morning’s star : the smash croissant, toasted and filled with jambon blanc, Ossau Iraty cheese and sesame seeds (€7) — a true gem ! For those with a sweet tooth who can’t skip a good viennoiserie, buttery croissants are also available, perfectly crisp and rich. Impossible not to pair it with one of their delicious hot drinks, such as filter coffee (€2), a comforting latte (€4.50), or an organic genmaicha roasted rice tea (€5).

Kamo, 17 rue Martel, Paris 10e. Breakfast from 9 am Monday to Friday.

MAISON FRANÇOIS 1ER: THE MOST ELEGANT

The place: we love the pocket-size format and the velvety decor of this charming spot just a stone’s throw from Champs-Élysées. Newly opened, Maison François 1er welcomes business meetings (or not) from breakfast to dinner, every day non-stop. This former wine bar has been given a superb facelift in the hands of Nathan Litera, who has turned it into a setting that is both cozy and friendly, where one can choose to sit on banquettes, around a round table, on the terrace (adorable in nice weather), at the bar, or at a cool high-top table (our favorite). Also great: the incognito lounge at the back of the restaurant.

To start the day well : choose your breakfast set according to your mood, always served with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. The Classic (€25) includes freshly squeezed house-made fruit juice (orange or lemon), baguette toast with butter and jam, or a croissant or pain au chocolat, along with organic eggs served scrambled, as an omelet, or fried. Prefer a healthier option? Swap the toast and pastries for avocado toast with a poached egg and 0% fromage blanc with granola (€29).

Maison François 1er, 64 rue François 1er, Paris 8e. Breakfast served daily from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tel: +33 9 67 47 94 04.

KUNA BADA: THE MOST INDIAN

The place: tucked away just steps from Place des Victoires, the new spot from The Kuna Family has gone big, gone beautiful. Intense, Kuna Bada lives to the rhythm of Parisian brasseries and opens its doors non-stop from morning to evening. Injected with colors that skyrocket the happiness hormones, Kuna Bada boasts a graphic and textured aesthetic that joyfully mixes patterns and materials. What we love: the fauna and flora-themed frescoes, signed by artist Solange Godard. Best seat? Upstairs, by the windows, to enjoy the beautiful morning light.

To start the day well : get ready for a feast that will easily make you skip lunch! Kick off with the Naan Eggs & Potatoes: yum (€9)! Also available in a Bacon & Eggs version. Indulge in the delightful Rava Dosa, a thin, crispy crepe infused with spices and herbs (€8). The naans, fluffy to perfection, are the stars of the menu and come in three devilishly delicious varieties: Banana Chocolate Naan, Salted Caramel & Almonds Naan (€6), and Nutella Naan (€5). Want to keep it light? Go for the Granola Bowl, a mix of toasted oats, cashew, almond, and pistachio seeds with cinnamon, served with fresh seasonal fruits and creamy coconut yogurt (€9). Feeling adventurous? The Stuffed Keema Kulcha, soft bread filled with spiced minced meat and baked in a tandoor, is a must-try (€4). On the drinks side, too cute to resist: Chai Latte served in a cookie cup (€5). To get in the Indian spirit, try a Rose Lassi (€6) or a spiced Golden Latte (€5)!

Kuna Bada, 42 rue d’Argout, Paris 2e. Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tel: +33 1 88 61 47 41.

CULT: THE MOST ALL-DAY LONG

The place: seriously stylish with its moldings, its ceiling mirror, its dark wood banquettes, and its collection of vintage vinyls, Cult stands out as the temple for brunch lovers who can indulge in their passion full-time from 8 AM to 6 PM. Planted near the big department stores, this trendy coffee shop buzzes with life and influences, just like Emma and Omar, its thirty-something founders, passionate about freshly ground coffee and cosmopolitan small bites. The extra thing: a large terrace to relax under the Parisian sky

To start the day well : in the sweet category, enjoy this lovely trio of homemade pancakes served with fresh fruit and a cheeky dollop of mascarpone cream (€13). Pair it with the house’s star drink, the cozy Rose & Cardamom Latte (€6). Cheesecake (€6) and Banana Bread (€5.50) also satisfy your sweet cravings. Prefer savory? Go straight for the Grilled Chicken Cheese, perfect for dipping into a creamy house-made truffle mayo—absolutely delicious! (€16.50). The classic Avocado Toast is offered here in several versions with optional egg, salmon, or bacon (from €13.50). We love the grilled halloumi sticks (€4.50). Special mention for the excellent coffee sourced from L’Arbre à Café.

Cult, 13 rue La Fayette, Paris 9e. Closed daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and from 9 a.m. on weekends. Breakfast/Brunch served all day.

MAISON GAZELLE: THE MOST MOROCCAN

The place: planted in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Maison Gazelle is the spot that brings an exotic touch to the neighborhood. Run by Sara Boukhaled, this coffee shop embraces a Franco-Moroccan lifestyle, with a traveler’s decor that leaves its mark from the furniture to the tableware, all the way to the soundtrack. A sunny haven with soothing vibes, perfect place to start the day.

To start the day well : a fusion menu that blends indulgence and wellness, featuring a collection of signature healthy drinks packed with superfoods. We’re already hooked on the Ocean Kiss, blue as the sea, with spirulina, dates, pink salt, and almond milk (€10), and the Moroccan Glow, a mix of almond milk, marine collagen, rose water, beetroot powder, and honey (€11). To satisfy your appetite, go for the extra “Franco-Moroccan Breakfast”, served on a large ochre plate, combining msemen and baghrir pancakes, croissant, baguette, amlou, honey, butter, fig jam, black olives, cheese, and coffee (€18).
